This is a collection of short stories. Every time I started a story I was confused then intrigued then invested and then the story ended and I was confused and wanted to know more. I fear that I am too dumb or too uninformed to really understand everything the author was trying to convey in her stories. Beautifully written though.

Rounding up my rating because of how enchanting the narration is; Oyeyemi is clearly talented. However, this collection felt frustrating from a reader's perspective. You get sucked into meandering narratives that go nowhere, with the only solace being characters that crop up again in other stories. Often felt like you were going nowhere and getting sucked into the story to end up bewildered at the end, and not in a good way.
