I read this book for the Molly Harper story in it, which is why it's cataloged here under the Undead Sublet heading. The star rating here is for her story only. It was good and one other was okay. A third I did not enjoy at all.

Please note; my star rating on any book is completely subjective and limited to the label for each star.

1 Star I didn’t like it
2 Stars It was okay
3 Stars I liked it
4 Stars I really liked it
5 Stars It was amazing!

If I do actually have something to say about a book other than what my enjoyment factor was, I will write a review and share my thoughts. If I say I didn’t like a book but there wasn’t anything that about it that I thought needed to be shared, then that’s it, I just didn’t like it.

If you’d like to start a discussion about a book or you’d like an actual review, ask any question you like and I’ll be happy to try and comply/respond.

Additional note; I do not feed the trolls. If you don’t have something constructive to say, or if you can’t say it in a respectful way, you won’t get a response from me. Ever.

Series: Half-Moon Hollow #2.5
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

This story was originally published in the anthology [b:The Undead In My Bed|13512929|The Undead In My Bed (Dark Ones #10.5; Half-Moon Hollow #2.5; Midnight Liaisons #1.5)|Katie MacAlister|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1336415326l/13512929._SY75_.jpg|19068011].

Tess is a workaholic and it has caused her to have an exhaustion filled breakdown in her five-star kitchen in Chicago. She takes a break to Half-Moon Hollow, but things quickly become stressful when she finds herself with an unexpected vampire housemate.

This was an enjoyable novella. Tess and Sam have a hate to love, forced proximity relationship that is filled with pranks and arguments. I found their pranks on each other hilarious and a bit diabolical. While it took me a little bit to warm up to Tess, I really enjoyed watching her find her passion in cooking again. Half-Moon Hollow gives her a chance to reassess her life and find her joy again, and start a new life.

Sam’s story was heartbreaking but it worked out for him in the end. His ex-wife was a real piece of work and I loved the confrontation Tess and Sam had with her at the fair. She totally deserved it and I was trying not to die of laughter at work during that scene. I really enjoyed how these two went from enemies to lovers. It made for an enjoyable and funny romance.

Overall, this was a great little novella for this series and I wonder if Tess and Sam will be appearing in future books.

I loved it, absolutely hilarious and a wonderful dynamic between the two of them. Tess was amazing and the pranks really just got better and better. It was nice to see that for once it wasn’t one of the vampires that dragged her into the circle.

New least favorite of the series. I think some of it was the narrator. I miss Amanda Ronconi.

Short and sweet. I liked the story but I didn't like Tess, the heroine. Sam on the other hand was great.

It was a free audiobook from audible so I wasn't expecting much. The story was pretty predictable but it did start off with dancing vegetables so you have to give props for that.

Chef Tess Maitland is forced to take a "sabbatical" from her kitchen when she starts talking to vegetables. With nowhere else to go, Tess rents a house in Half-Moon Hollow to be close to her mentor, Chef Gamling. Not everything goes according to plan when Tess realises she is not the only tenant...

It seems Molly Harper nails short stories. This is a very entertaining romance where the lead female does not need saving, actually others need to be saved from her. Tess and Sam's domestic war is very entertaining and there is no pretence of building up a mystery, which is a relief. I enjoyed the descriptions of food a little too much.
