Pretty good teenage thriller.
Very addictive read.
It didn't ever really feel slow. It was very well paced.
You have to suspend disbelief a little bit, but what thriller story is that not needed in

I didn't like the epilogue. It was not necessary in my opinion.

This book was quite an enjoyable ride for me.

**obligatory spoiler warning**

What I liked the most about this story was most definitely the 4 main characters and their journeys throughout the story. Although I was a bit dubious on liking some characters at the beginning, by the end of the story, I had come to like each and every one of their character arcs. I thought that each character had enough individuality to shine through all the trials and tribulations they faced while addressing each of their problems. Even as I'm writing this, I still have trouble picking a favourite out of the four, (but you go Bronwyn and Nate xx - although I love Cooper's gradual build-up of confidence and Addy's transformation into who she really was as well) as I think the author did a great job in making each of them likeable but not perfect. The book kept be hooked, and always made me think twice about every event, where I was always coming up with my own theories as to who I thought was the killer or killers.

However, I also thought that the book suffered from the thing it did best as well. Each character, to a certain degree, had their own problems to face and solve (and a cumulative one together), but I felt like there wasn't enough time to highlight everything in detail, due to the fact that there are 4 main characters. For example, I feel like Cooper's aftermath after being forcefully outed to his family wasn't explored enough, and I was left unsatisfied with the short few sentences they had, in the end, describing what had transpired over that three months in the epilogue. And another thing I'd like to add was that the way that it was revealed that Simon had killed itself was a bit lacklustre - it wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't all that surprising and didn't have as much shock value as I thought the reveal would've had.

Even though it seems like I would rather talk about the bad things of the book, (I really did enjoy this book a lot I swear) I do recommend this book as it's very teen-friendly, talks about lots of issues that are highly prevalent within teens, while also showcasing character growth really well.

A good 3.75/5 in my opinion.

First, I would like to give praise to the author, Ms. Karen M. McManus for writing such a wonderful, exciting page-turner--I regret it instantly that I haven't even known her before or her previous works. This 'One of Us Is Lying' is the best mystery book I've read so far, almost on par with my all-time favorite 'And Then There Were None' by Agatha Christie. If a friend would ask me to recommend a book, I won't hesitate to mention this one.

Actually, if you have already read the book, the title
Spoiler is the red herring itself. It
is so intriguing, and will make your head work right away from the start! The fact that the author managed to keep balance of pointing accusations on each of the main characters is a plus, and in fact, I've grown to like them all in the end, to the point that I wish none of them were the culprit
Spoiler which, thank God, was the actual case!
. I actually hate books with multiple point of views, but this book is an exception. The reason why is that I can hear the distinctness of their voice, to the point that I thought they were real, like a friend of mine.

Reading this book in just two days feels like a month-equivalent of brain exercise. I'm so happy that I've finished it right away and that I can get myself a peaceful sleep.

That was one-hell of an ending, by the way.

From start to finish I was completely engulfed in “One of us is Lying”. This intriguing murder mystery is written by Karen M McManus, and she kept me on edge and wondering “whodunnit” the entire read.

The story starts off as a very stereotypical high school/teenage novel, you have your character from all walks of life, Bronwyn the brain, Addy the beauty, Nate the criminal, Cooper the jock and Simon the social outcast. However, Simon has many skeletons in his closet, including the dark and gossipy app About That. These students are all thrown into detention together, all claiming that they were framed for having contraband that didn’t belong to them, and before they know it, Simon has had an anaphylactic reaction, and died.

Now these students are thrown into the deep end when they go from being by standing witnesses to suspects of a murder case. Very quickly all their live begin to unravel around them, no matter how fast they try to draw them back in.

Terrible things begin to happen to the four students as a result of both the app, and the circumstances of Simon’s death are laid upon their shoulders. Secrets get out, reputations are sullied, and seemingly no one is safe.

This is precisely why you need to read this novel, it is a web that you get caught and the only way out is to binge read the novel in a single sitting. The plot is so chocker block with tantalising moments and you really see true development within each character. I really loved able to grow with each of them as will you. So if you love teenage stereotypes, murder mysteries and plot twists that will have you gasping, this is the read for you.
