I've read a couple of Harlan Coben's books so far but this one I couldn't finish. I just couldn't believe that people would be so narrow minded as to not want a cure for AIDS. I may be naive and people are truly out there but I can't fathom it.

I am a dedicated Harlan Coben fan and absolutely love this man’s writing. His characters are intricate and every single plot twist is always the least expected thing.
HOWEVER, this is the first Harlan Coben book that has ever disappointed me :(
On my quest to read his entire backlist, I picked up Miracle Cure, and 200 pages in I was really trying to convince myself to finish. It was so boring. Ever so boring. The characters were interesting enough, but the plot was SO SLOW, and the whole reason I love Harlan Coben is for his quick paced stories and amazing plots, and this has neither. I will admit the plot twist was well executed but around page three hundred I skipped to the last few chapters to find out what it was.
Having been one of his very first books, it’s amazing to see how much the author has grown, but I would not recommend reading this one, if you want fast paced mystery try literally anything else he has written.

Be aware that this is not a new book, but a re-release. While the book says "A Harlan Classic - Now Back in Print", I didn't notice that until after I had purchased the book. I focused on the description of the book which mentioned a beloved TV journalist and a basketball star facing a deadly disease and a serial-killer which sounded intriguing. I didn't realize the disease was AIDS and that the book was originally written in 1991 and was just re-released in 2011. Some of the characters opinions and views about HIV and AIDS are thankfully dated, but the book was still very suspenseful and the ending was very surprising.
I liked the two main characters of Sara and Michael and seeing their loyalty and love for each other. A scene with Sara and Cassandra toward the end seemed unbelievable and a pat solution to years of problems between the two characters, but does build on the story to prepare for the nail-biting conclusion. Some of the other characters are fairly two-dimensional villains, which detracts from the overall book. Also, I feel the graphic scenes taking place in Bangkok did nothing to add to the overall story and greatly took away from my enjoyment and opinion of the book.

I always love the twists Harlan Coben has in his books! I can never guess the ending.
