This would be an excellent choice for a beach read, due to the setting, low-level action and ensemble cast. It was also my first time reading lesbian sex scenes.

I finished my first book of 2025 and it was a pull from my TBR Jar! It takes place in a tropical island which is funny considering the current winter weather here. I wish I liked this book more than I did. Maybe it's because I ended 2024 with a similar book that I also didn't love (family trapped together drama ensues), but I didn't vibe with this one. I was mostly ambivalent to disliked the characters. Almost every character gets a POV except the two I ended up liking the most. Overall it was fine, but not the best way to start the year.

Synopsis: When a stressful family vacation faces a natural disaster things escalate quickly.
Thoughts: With lots of family drama and a stressful natural disaster this book was stressful but also shared some difficulties and stresses. I thought that this book was an interesting read and not what I was expecting. There were several different plots that were going on and sometimes hard to follow. I think that this was a fun vacation read.

when you’re queer you get to write a love story that’s never been written before.

I like-almost-loved this book! The characters are all deeply flawed - lots of other reviewers are saying unlikeable, but aren't we all in some ways? - and display growth throughout the story. They each felt like real people, and all had fully developed stories throughout the book. That also meant there were A LOT of POVs throughout, which can be a pro or con depending on your view. I enjoyed hearing from each character, but at times it was quick switching between each person. The big event at the beginning certainly added an interesting twist - I didn't see that coming at all.
Like some others have mentioned, this doesn't feel like strictly a romance or a family drama, as it has a little bit of everything. Overall, I enjoyed it a lot and finished it over two days.

Truly adored the magic and beauty of this book. It has everything I want in a story: a vibrant setting; fully realized characters; high-stakes; themes of growth and discovery and understanding; and of course, steaminess. Everyone had so much depth while still working together in the larger interactions - truly just loved this, and will definitely re-read it.

There was something about the premise of Island Time (two families stranded on an island) that caught me at the right time. Maybe I need a vacation? Regardless, I was really feeling the dynamics of this book. All the characters (or maybe a better way of putting it - personalities) stuck together for a longer than anticipated time. There were awkward moments, cringey moments, funny moments, heartfelt moments, heartbreaking moments.
Georgia Clark did a masterful job of making me feel connected to all of the characters in some way. It’s a reminder that you don’t have to “like” everyone, but you can probably find some common ground.
Thank you Atria Books and NetGalley for the digital ARC! I really enjoyed this one and have already bought a physical copy for my shelves and to share.

I had to dnf at least three books before being able to find this masterpiece. What makes this story different from the first three that I tried to read is its narration (vivid descriptions and perfectly written prose.)
"Art worked best when you were uncomfortably honest. When what you said would ruffle some feathers." Exactly. The way this fictional story addresses various non-fictional issues piqued my interest. I admire artists and/or writers who are using their platforms to creatively express their stance. Brave are those who are not afraid to let the whole world see their creative works in its rawest form. This book courageously talks about queerness, colonization, loss of cultural identity and the hypocrisy of human beings. It explores the complexity of love and the things you are willing to compromise in the name of it.
My whole being is scattered in every bits and pieces of each character in this book. Their flaws, imperfections and dark sides make them all the more relatable.
Allured by its short chapters, I just want to keep on reading, but college (sinabayan pa ng midterms exams) being the worst villain ever forbade me to do so.
