This book in one sentence: Sam and his motley crew embark on a new adventure as Sam follows his destiny and gathers all the dragons to fight evil.
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Steaminess: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Would I recommend: I fell in love with the universe and the characters in the first book of this series, but for some reason, I struggled getting into this one. Maybe because I expected to see the characters evolve more, but the first part of the book is pretty slow and so much of the dynamic between characters seemed really repetitive of book 1. I did love the new ancient-teenager dragon character. I think the thing I struggled most with was the overuse of the term "gypsy", I just don't understand why the author would choose to use a word that is widely considered a racial slur, to describe a made-up culture of people in a fictional universe. He could have used any number of words or even made one up instead. And the word is used 60 times in the book, so it was a constant aggravation.
Tropes: chosen one, soulmates, love-triangle, evil villain bent on revenge
Content warnings: racial slurs

I will be real I thought that I would find the humor growing stale. I was wrong, not only did the book have me in stitches on the ground but the fact that the charm of the characters grew every thing and you get introduced to my favorite dragon in this book makes it my favorite to come back to.
I didn't realize this was the second book when I started it. I was halfway through before I realized that, so I kept going and will read them out of order. I loved listening to it. I'm not sure I would have picked up all the sass and sarcasm if I had read it, or it may have taken me a while to figure out the tone, but again, maybe that is just because I started with the second book. It was a super fun read.
4.5 Stars. I can't even! The heartbreak I see coming in this series is carefully balanced with the humour that I loved in book one. This book has more foreboding than the first book and kind of ends on a cliffhanger. I am waiting on pins and needles for book 3!!
“But you have to believe me that it’s always been you. I promise. I promise. I promise, because when I look upon these stars, there is nothing I wish for more than you.”
GOD DO I LOVE THIS SERIES.
It's like you take something filled with this extraordinary plot, unique characters and throw in the best damn off the wall humor ever and suddenly your life feels complete. The first book kept me laughing out loud (literally...very very loudly) and this one did the exact same thing. With a twist of me fearing for what's to come. I'm really excited to read the next two books and my only disappointment was that it took me so long to even start this series!
