I read this as a teenager and LOVED it. I just re-read it and loved it again! I think it may be the only Danielle Steel book I’ve ever read. It’s about a family on the Titanic and a sister who sacrifices so much to raise her siblings.
Another one bites the dust.
After getting through the first chapter or two of character description, I thought the book looked promising. The story of being on the titanic, the romance, the drama was there, and I was hopeful. The further into the story though, something wasn't quite sitting right. It felt repetitive. At around two thirds through I grew sick of reading she was so thin and beautiful, and he was so handsome.
The last couple of chapters was what really disappointed me, because again the female lead falls in love in 2 days with an unhappily married man and has an affair with him. He's not willing to divorce so they part and shortly after she's in love and accepting a proposal from another man.
So I plod on, shaking my head, wondering why, but reaching for the next of DS books in my acquired stack, hoping not to be disappointed again.

My mom had been trying to get me to read this for years... I’m glad I finally did but I won’t need to read it again.
I'm not able to think straight yet. All I can say is that even though I cried my eyes out for probably 80% of the book, and I hated the fact that while reading the back cover of the book I found out pretty much everything that was gonna happen, I still love this book very much! I don't know, I'm a sucker for tragedy, but in this case, it was Edwina's strong personality and her capacity to go on and be strong for her family even when all she wanted to do was cry was really empowering and touching. I love strong female characters, and I love them even more when they come from times when women weren't supposed to be like that.

as a rule, I can't stand Danielle Steel books - I've flipped thru a few at a relative's home. But I saw this one on a shelf sometime after having seen Titanic, and it sounded interesting. It turned out to be a great read. Not exactly deep, but enjoyable.
