Este libro era un tesoro escondido en mi librero, que hace mucho tuve que haber descubierto. Sus páginas me mostraron una historia adictiva y llena de emociones. Si bien tenía intenciones de terminarlo antes de que acaba el 2024, no tuve necesidad de forzar la lectura porque solo quería leerlo y saber más de Mare, Cal y Maven (estos últimos con mucho "material de novio literario").
Conecté demasiado con el libro. Y sería un tonto si no calificara este libro con 5 estrellas, porque ¿qué más esperaría? Fue un libro adictivo, con buenos personajes (llenos de matices) y con una trama excelente.

Although this book felt like The Selection meets The Hunger Games, it still felt fresh. The week before I finished this one, I quit a YA novel because it felt like the same plot I've read too many times.
This book is also a great choice for students who do not want books laden with profanity or mature scenes. The book's violence is typical for this genre.

What I was expecting: Standard dystopian YA, one dimensional badass teens, an eyeroll-worthy insta-love relationship...
What this book delivered: A really thought provoking look into class division and prejudice, an expolation of the horrifying ways that things can be warped by propaganda, as well as the different conflicting ways to view a revolutionary group (terrorist/freedom fighter) and the ruling class (anguished rulers doing what needs to be done to keep their country stable/heartless dictators).
The twists and turns in this book were fantastic and the plot phenomenal.

2.5 stars. The Hunger Games meets the Selection…….but worse. I appreciated the rapid pace of this book, but with that came gaping plot holes and nonsensical turns. I enjoyed this as much as one can for a incredibly predictable YA fantasy. Not at all bad, but definitely nothing unique or especially impressive.
