The premise of this had me instantly HOOKED! I love a dual POV and this one was executed well. I never say this, but I do think this book could have been a little longer! I would have loved to see more interactions between Holly and Ivy (like the one we got in the flashback). It would also have been nice to get a more detailed expression of Holly’s emotions once she came to terms with what happened. I think the jump from the ending to the epilogue was a little sudden. Overall, I enjoyed this story and it was a perfect holiday read!

I wanted to absolutely love this book. I thought it was such a great concept- two best friends switch out their holiday trips after one of them gets dumped the day before their wedding. This doesn't seem like it would lend to a lot of good holiday vibes, but I still had hope. What I left with was wanting a lot more from the characters. While I understand it is a book and not to be taken so seriously, I just thought that both Holly and Ivy acted so immature at times. The dialogue felt very childish at times. It took me out of the story almost immediately, so I didn't care much for their character arcs. I enjoyed the two different locations for the book- the beautiful beaches of Hawaii and a remote cabin in the woods of upstate New York. I appreciated the small town vibes and the beachy vibes that were curated, but I just couldn't get myself to care much about the characters enough. For that reason, I left wanting more. While it wasn't my favorite book this holiday season, I still think it can be enjoyed by many.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.

So I was under the impression this was a new author for me but apparently it’s a pen name for an author I have read before under another name and didn’t love the book I had read. So… kind of put a damper on my experience reading this one as I likely wouldn’t have bought it if I had known.

I’m any case… this was a cute story. Though the concept was a little hard to believe (looking so much like your best friend you can take her place on a trip and no one bats an eye?), the concept of the switch was unique and I liked the idea of it.

Enjoyed the two relationships. Thought they were both cute and had some chemistry to them. My one thing about this story was some of the dialogue and things that happened was a little cheesy/inplausible/unlikely. Example: you meet a bartender and tell him your story and he offers you his house to stay in? Um nope. Totally unsafe. Some of the flowery language that came out of the characters was a little unrealistic considering they just met.

Anyways cute, but not for me in this case.
