This is the 4th holiday book I’ve read by Marissa Stapley aka Maggie Knox aka now Julia McKay. These sweet holiday romances never disappoint. In this case, 2 look alike best friends trade holidays for Christmas week after 1 of them is jilted at the altar. We get 2 love stories as well as a love story to friendship. Super fun holiday read. Keep them coming, Marissa.

For fans of The Holiday move this is for you! This has all the drama, holiday feels, vacation fun, small town quirks, island adventures, and 2 love stories! This books goes so quick with every other chapter switching back and forth between Ivy and Holly on their prospective holidays they switched. I love how it led to love in unexpected ways for both of them and included healing for both of them as well. Very cute, very fun, definitely recommend for a light Christmas read!

Thank you NetGalley, Penguin Group Putnam and Julia McKay for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a story told from best friends, Holly and Ivy’s, POV.

Holly is blindsided when her fiancée ends things the night before the wedding and their 2 week honeymoon. Ivy is about to leave on a 2 week art trip to the snowy woods. They decide to switch trips to give each other time to focus on their needs.

Holly finds herself reuniting with someone from her past she always thought about but never really realized how much she thought of.

Ivy finds herself without a hotel and staying with the hot bartender who made her shocking discovery much easier to deal with.

I loved the romance of it even if it was rather fast but what I really was obsessed with was the friendship love story between Holly and Ivy.

This was a fun Holiday read but nothing more than that. I found the whole situation with Matt a very anticlimactic.

This had a promising start with its unique setup. Jilted by her fiancé, Holly swaps her Hawaiian honeymoon plans for Ivy’s secluded, wintry cabin in the Hudson Valley. Meanwhile, Ivy takes Holly’s place in Hawaii. The contrast in settings—balmy beaches vs cozy, snowy woods—was perfect, offering the best of both worlds.

I really liked the friendship between Holly and Ivy. Their bond felt so genuine and heartfelt. It was this relationship that kept me invested in the story. They were always there for each other, always ready to drop everything at a moment’s notice. It was sweet.

As you might expect, they each meet someone special during their travels. Splitting the focus between two couples is fun, but I felt there wasn’t enough depth here. The characters themselves were certainly likeable, but the insta-love was unbearable—especially in Holly's situation. She’d just been engaged, and within a week, she’s in love with someone new. It felt way too fast and unrealistic to me.

(heat level: a couple open-door scenes, mild details)
