I loved it! I loved it! I loved it!! I have been searching for a series that would give me all the same types of feelings I had while reading Harry Potter and I failed to find something until this series!! It just gives me the same feel goods and love for a story as I read it. I finish with the biggest smile on my face. Finally, I’m so happy I found this! I’m not going to compare it to Harry Potter because nothing can come close to touching that, but these books have given me what I’ve been searching for. I hope there are many more books in this series coming!!! Thank you Jessica Townsend!!

The Value of a Star: Ratings Explained
Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow is book 2 in a new upper-middle grade series. Book 2 was as good as book 1, and now I'm looking forward to book 3!
I don't know if there will ever be another Harry, although everyone's always looking for it. Two books aren't enough to know for sure (it wasn't until Goblet of Fire that Harry really became special) and I don't know what the future holds for Morrigan. But I'll tell you this: if someone came from the future and told me Morrigan Crow is the next Harry, I'd believe them.
I love Morrigan. She's strong and brave, but also naive and flawed. She's packed full of potential and has room for tremendous growth. She has good friends and bad enemies. I can't wait to see how high she rises.
I love this world. The dials for creativity and imagination are turned to 11. Morrigan lives in a living hotel where the rooms change to fit the mood of the guests. The head of housekeeping is a giant talking cat who used to be a champion cage fighter. The head of activities is a Vampire Dwarf. Her best friend is training to be a professional dragon rider. You get around town by hooking your umbrella to a rail and holding on tight. The school's headmistress is two women inhabiting the same body. There's something new and incredible every corner!
The writing is strong. The dialogue is smooth. The plot is clear. The story is engaging.
I can't wait for book 3.
Content appropriate for all ages. 500+ pages might be too much for younger readers to tackle, or it might be perfect if they're not intimidated by the high page count.
Happy reading!

Happy reading!
Once again I loved revisting Nevermoor and remembering reading it a few years ago!! I also really loved the ending - I had completely forgotten about the loyalty trial! I loved how it showed Morrigan's gradual learning of how to control her knack, and I loved the plot twists throughout the book. I'm so glad that she was eventually put in The School of Arcane Arts!!
Overall it was amazing!! I can't wait to read the next book - I haven't read this one before so I have no idea what will happen!!

Wundersmith is a fantastic follow up to Nevermoor.
It is just as intriguing and perplexing, with the mystery and the world deepening in this one.
Morrigan's journey with the rest of Unit 419 was really fun to watch, and the ending left me feeling warm and bubbly inside.
All in all, whenever you read it, you get the strange, magical feeling of being in an entirely different world, something Jessica Townsend does with her books.
What I was also happy about with this book is it moves the plot forward. It ends in a completely different way than it started, and that I liked.
I found this to be even better than the first one, and I can't wait for Book 3!

A good sequel. However not as light-hearted as the first book.
