It was wholesome and there was a lot of family feels. The humor was a little repetitive. I'm not really attached to any of these characters and I don't really care what happens.

I really wanted to like this more than I did. I do plan to read the others and I really hope I like one of them more.

Review of the whole series:
Cute and heartwarming coming of age story. I think this is a comic i can recommend to a lot of people. The moms point of view, having a parner whos views are not the same as yours, trying to figure out your sexuality while being young... Really important topics.

Koko sarjan arvostelu:
Suloinen ja sydäntä lämmittävä nuoruuden tarina.Tämä on sarjakuva, jota voin suositella monille. Äidin näkökulma, kumppani jonka näkemykset eivät ole samoja kuin sinun, nuorena oman seksuaalisuuden selvittäminen.... Todella tärkeitä aiheita.

This slice-of-life manga offers a wholesome and lighthearted glimpse into the life of a high school student who isn't very good at hiding the fact that he's gay, much to his mother's amusement! Her quiet support of her son, without pushing him to come out,  was lovely to read, and I enjoyed that the story was largely from her perspective. I hope there is a bit more plot in the next volume as not much actually happens, but this was still an easy and enjoyable read.

Heartwarming and funny manga about a teenage boy who isn’t that good at keeping how gay he is. Hiroki is still afraid to show and talk about how he really feels toward boys. What’s so heartwarming about this is really the mom Tomoko who is so supportive and understanding of her son without being pushy at all.

When Hiroki slips and mentions the word “boyfriend”, he tries to backpedal embarrassingly and say that he meant “girlfriend”. But mom Tomoko would just be like “Yes, yes. That’s what you meant.” Lighthearted as this manga is, you could really feel how much mom Tomoko cares for her son and his happiness. She wants to create a safe space where Hiroki would feel comfortable being and expressing himself.

It also tackles homophobia and internalized homophobia. The dad Akiyoshi acknowledges the existence of gay people, but still feels grossed out about the idea of two men kissing. But what makes it nicer is that mom Tomoko or younger son Yuri would be there to impart their opinion, to save or make Hiroki not feel pressured to defend or explain himself.

The whole time I was reading this, I kept thinking to myself “I want to be like Tomoko when I become a mom.” She’s such a great role model. Will definitely continue reading this manga series. Definitely recommend it to people looking for a lighthearted read about love and family!
