Trying hard but fairly forgettable.

A fun rom-com set in the Loire valley about an Englishman who runs a B&B and spends his spare time watching and remembering movies from the 30s through the 50s. He is himself a bit of a bumbling Cary Grant before he discovers how charming he is and is wholly overwhelmed by the wildly exotic Frenchwoman Valerie. I laughed out loud several times. Fun.

This was sort of like reading a solid B+ episode of Midsomer Murders. Aggressively fine, but I'm not clamoring for more.

DNF - so confusing and narration didn't help.

A quirky charming read, but it felt like the murder mystery plot took a backseat to the humor. Maybe thats why it took me a while to get into the story, but there are quite a few very funny moments and i really liked the twist at the end.

I got this arc in exchange for an honest review.
