This book is swoon worthy! I sacrificed sleep last night to finish this book until 4:30am. It was worth it.

second read bc I hated it first time but it had a really good generic storyline if that makes sense. I remember the broad storyline being interesting but the actual details of the book are awful.
so the meet cute ti start w was just so unrealistic for him to be in love and pining after her after that like come on let's be real.
the writing style is just a bit cringe, I listened as an audio book this time and it made it all the more unrealistic.
it's written from third person perspective yet we get ALL of olives internal dialogue and none of Adams or anyone else's. it just feels like playing barbie when you're a kid and you're trying to tell the story from barbies perspective, ignoring everyone else's narrative bc they're not ur decided main character ygm?
sex scenes are actual arse. they were bad first time I read it but this time I had to literally skip through it. it's giving non consensual. the only reason we KNOW it is conceptual is bc of olives dialogue but EVERYTHING about her actions is giving I don't want to have sex rn. they're both apprehensive for their own reasons but it's all internal dialogue so when you're reading the body language bits it makes it seem like neither of them want this. also coupled w the fact that we aren't in first person for olive, we don't actualllylyy know what's going on. it's just CLUNKY and awkward. if I wanted to know about clunky and awkward sex I wouldn't be reading a romance novel.
the characters don't feel fleshed out. they have all of these back stories but they don't feel authentic. they feel like part of the story that are thrown in to justify the plot. they don't feel like REAL people and issues thay they're suffering. it should feel like the ups and downs are a result of their personalities and their experiences. instead it feels like the author has just put the traits in bc it would work for the story.
