Cute, funny story. Wish it was a bit more spicy and to hear Adams POV from time to time, even if it would have just been the epilogue. The ending is a bit flat. But its still a great book.

I love it when a book makes sure that its title is suitable for the contents within. Hence, I really appreciate that each chapter of this book starts with a hypothesis made by our narrator, Ms. Olive Smith. Olive is a Biologist in the third year of her Ph.D. studies when she instantly tells the readers that she does not believe in long-lasting romances and not that it matters because who would fall for her anyway. But her best friend Anh does. Olive dates a guy but they part ways as there are no sparks between them, but there is an instant connection between him and Anh. To put Anh out of the dilemma of dating him, Olive proves to her that she doesn’t mind this at all by kissing the first guy she finds on campus. This guy turns out to be the genius, apathetic Prof. Makes-his-students-cry-with-his-harsh-feedbacks, Adam Carlsen. In order to keep this charade on, they both decide to continue fake dating for a while. What is in store for Adam? Why does he behave warmly with Olive?
The classic troupe of short, self-deprecating, awkward girl meets tall, snobbish, introvert guy. Except some issues with the narrative, I loved the overall romance and banter better these fictional cuties❤️

What a fun read. I totally understand the hype and am glad I gave into it. I love that from the outset the context was very clear, as in it didn’t take 50 pages to work up to the fake dating which was great. It was obviously painful to watch them both squirm around when they both so clearly loved each other. I enjoyed that real life consequences and actions were a part of the novel and rationality guided them too. I’m glad the inclusion of science wasn’t detrimental to the overall understanding because it made absolutely no sense to me sis. Adam was scrumptious, Olive was a bit fucking lost and it played into very stereotypical heterosexual dynamics but look it works if you hand over your independent woman card for a few hours. I valued the inclusion of
slimey Tom being a pig because it highlight the reality women in any male dominated industry face that they are often seen as less then, or a sexual beyond before a valid scientist (or whatever title they may have)
. Overall, it very so entertaining and I would definitely read an Ali Hazelwood book again! Now off I go to watch Star Wars xx
