I’ve read a lot of Karina Halle books and a lot of the time I find the concept really interesting but the book is a miss. I thought the same would happen with this book but I really liked this!

This book was so atmospheric and the author did a great job at creating the spooky, dark vibe. I really liked that there was more plot in this book and some parts were actually scary and creepy.

I liked Katrina as our FMC and I thought she was quite sweet but strong. Crane was hot af and I loved that he was dominant but caring and how he had his own history. I really liked Brom too and I thought his story was quite heartbreaking.

I loved the relationship development between Kat and Crane and their chemistry. I look forward to seeing them all as a couple as we only got a glimpse and more of Crane and Brom and Kat and Brom.

I’m so glad this was made into a duet because there is still so many secrets to be revealed!

Hollow started off really slow for me. It took me a whole day to read 4 chapters. The spice was definitely slow burning for me. But once it picked up, it got better and I found myself staying up way too late reading it.

I feel like the blurb is misleading. I was expecting more relationship development between Bram & Crane, but that doesn’t happen until the very end of the book. I was also expecting them to uncover more of the mystery by the end, but the characters are still pretty clueless. It was also infuriating that the clues were laid out in a very obvious way to the reader, but Halle made the MMCs deliberately obtuse & they wouldn’t put them together until much later. I felt like a kid yelling at Dora that Swiper is behind her. It was fun & I’m invested enough to read Legend, but I’m not obsessed.

Look, I’ll snag any retelling that is pitched but I’ll be honest- sleepy hollow is a new one for me. Not only is it new, it’s genuinely one I’m not actually familiar with? Regardless, I’m here for it.

This was a fun one, definitely at times felt it slow a smidge to help build up for a sequel. Some people don’t jive with it and usually I also get very meh about strict world building and set up for the future but this is balance so well. We embrace the now and send little winks to the future.

Hollow felt way more my speed on witchy reads, less cutesy and a little darker. Our characters are flawed yet empowered, the setting engulfs you, the plot pulls you in. With another on the horizon, I feel that’ll be the knock out book with this just on its heels.
