I don't know if it was because I was watching Criminal Minds while I read this but everything was too predictable and didn't bring any excitement whatsoever

The amount of times I just kept calling the girls stupidddd omg but I have to realize that EVERY decision is under pressure. This book was 4/5 stars for me. What a gripping thrill ride! I wasn’t able to put this one down. The suspense was written greatly – it was very detailed and it didn’t feel rushed, and I was constantly on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen. I feel that I am very much like Olivia – an anxious true crime junkie who is always expecting the worst while silently hoping for the best. There were a few choices that Olivia made that had me screaming at the pages, but in an intense survival situation, it is easy to justify what she did and why she did what she did
Spoilereg. letting Laura sleep with a concussion, leaving her, and not returning immediately after she woke up and screamed, ultimately giving away her position.
In most suspense thrillers, I find there are often a handful of uber-predictable moments that just make me roll my eyes, but I loved every minute of this. I thought the book might take a cringey turn when
SpoilerI learned it was the fraternity responsible for their kidnapping, but it was very well-written, not predictable, and didn’t turn out to just be some college kids messing around.
There are so many true crime stories with truly evil perpetrators and I don’t much care for stories where that is downplayed and the violence just turns out to be a prank. This book was not like that –
Spoilerthere were truly evil roots within the fraternity proven by a previous murder victim hidden under the crawlspace.
A great read!
