✨Thoughts✨
𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐧 kicks off The Irishmen series, a fresh take on mafia romance with an unmistakable Melanie Moreland flair.
𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐧 and Una dated for a few months until there was an attempted attack which injured Finn. Una decides to leave Finn in order to protect him. Despite this, Finn remains determined to win back her love, while Una struggles with her brother's involvement with dangerous criminals that could end up destroying her.
𝐈 found this book to be a fun read, with the plot moving at a fast pace that kept me hooked from beginning to end. Una's situation with her brother and Finn was relatable, and I appreciated how Finn showed patience and supported Una in making her own decisions.
𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥, if you're a fan of fast-paced mafia romance novels, Finn is a must-read. Many thanks to Melanie Moreland for providing a copy of this ebook. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Book 1 of the Irishmen is a treat for the ears. John Lane with an Irish accent is sublimely engaging. Maxine Mitchell's male Irish voice matches John's in an auditory symphony.
If you are a Melanie fan, then you'll love this story of Finn and and Una. We get a few visits from Roman, Aldo, and Luca throughout this story. There's suspense, lots of steamy romance and a few one liners that had my jaw dropping.

𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐧 is the first book in the Irishmen Duet by Melanie Moreland, featuring a spicy and emotional boss/employee, second chance, romance for Finn and Una. Their chemistry was undeniable, but her fear of his job as the Head of the Syndicate was a major obstacle. Finn was an ultimate morally grey hero, ready and willing to burn down the world and anyone in it, if it meant protecting the woman he loves! I love that dark edge of action, the scorching “Touch Her and ☠️” vibes, the angsty tension, the drama, the plot twists, and the surprising emotional moments that had me in my feelings! Una was an amazing character in her own right, with a core of steel, even if she doesn’t realize it. She had such a loving, compassionate heart, even at her own expense. She so deserved someone on her side, willing to put her first, no matter what. I loved the family theme, the bond between Finn and Niall and others in their family, as well as some familiar faces that made me positively giddy! When indulging in the mafia-esque realm, I love the fact that even in the underworld, love can win! Niall was so compelling to watch that I cannot wait to get my hands on his story!
I dove in a second time via the audio, and was blown away by John Lane and Maxine Mitchell!! Their mastery of these amazing characters, their different accents, personalities, emotions and all the excitement of the plot made this one of my favorite narrations! Listening to John Lane argue and banter with himself as both Finn and Niall with unique Irish accents was priceless!!😆 I can’t tell you how excited I am that both of them will be back for 𝘕𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭!
I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Wow!! You never really know what you’re going to get with Melanie Moreland! Finn is so very different from My Favorite Boss and Simple Life!
Irish syndicate in Toronto. Age gap…he’s loved her for years but left her alone because she was too young when they met.
We deal with an entitled, angry big brother. We deal with feelings that Una has tried to deny.
There is mystery and redemption and steamy romance…I mean who doesn’t dream of being taken shopping by a rich mob boss!?!
The narrators did a good job. They were a little stiff at times, but the accents were on point! The language got a little flowery at times. But the story and its premise are really good. It only took me two days to listen!!
Add it to your TBR…. Bet you like it 😉

If you're into slow-burn, second-chance romances with a splash of suspense and a dash of family drama, Finn by Melanie Moreland is totally your vibe. Finn’s a big deal in the syndicate world and a successful hotel owner—but beneath all that power and polish, he’s still head-over-heels for the one that got away: Una Murphy.
Even though their romance fizzled out when things got too dangerous, fate clearly isn't done with them. Una’s working and signing at one of Finn’s hotels, unaware that he’s been keeping a close—very protective—eye on her. But when trouble from her family starts bubbling up again, Finn has no choice but to step back into her life. Cue the drama, the sparks, and all those unresolved feelings!
The audiobook was a great listen. Maxine Mitchell and John Lane brought the characters to life so well—I was hooked. And the ending? Perfectly teed up book #2, Niall. Can’t wait to dive into that one next!

Finn and Una’s story is dark, intense and mesmerizing. Who can resist a hot, sexy and possessive protector? Admittedly, Finn is a morally grey character, but when it comes to the woman who stole his heart when she was only eighteen, he is a big teddy bear. To her, he shows his tender, romantic side on occasion, though most often his possessive and dominant side is in full force. Even when Una puts distance between them, in a mistaken attempt to keep him safe, Finn makes sure she is protected at all times. He also makes sure she has a venue to pursue both of her passions, singing and top notch training in hospitality and hotel management.
An incident with her brother forces Finn to put aside a promise he made to Una’s father, a loyal employee who saved his life. Her brother’s entitlement issues and resentment of Finn lead him to align himself with a very dangerous criminal and organization set on eliminating Finn and the syndicate. Then a health crisis with a treasured friend and family member forces Finn and Una to realize that life is short and time with a loved one is not guaranteed. She finally sees that keeping her distance from Finn is not the answer, and she goes to him when he is the one in need of support. Unfortunately, her brother and his dangerous new friends are escalating their efforts to cause trouble, so much so that Finn is forced to call on other syndicates for their help. Then his worst fears become reality. Una is taken and he must find her and rescue her quickly or he will lose her forever.
I loved the instant attraction between Una and Finn, the way he waited for her to grow up, their intense chemistry and the intrinsic connection they have formed between them. I love that they are both protective of each other and are willing to put each other’s needs before their own. Finn respects her enough to be honest with her, even in matters that concern her treacherous brother. It was wonderful to have Roman, Aldo and Luca make an appearance in support of Finn and his organization. Their mutual respect was admirable and not usually seen in books featuring the mafia. I can’t wait to see what happens next with Niall and Anna, the young woman he helped rescue.
I wholeheartedly recommend this absolutely entrancing book.

Finn and Una.
Finn meets Una when she is only 18. Her father worked for Finn. Finn was mesmerized with Una but she was too young. Years later, After the father passed, Finn promised to watch over the man’s children, Una and Brian. But Una and Brian were two very different people. Una is smart, driven, kind. Brian is cocky, lazy, entitled. But Una could see no wrong when it came to her brother and always came to his defense, which infuriated Finn. (And me!) Una’s dream was to own a hotel, so she worked in Finn’s hotel to gain experience. Finn and Una had a connection but Una didn’t like the other side of Finn’s life. He was part of the syndicate. It was dangerous and she didn’t want any part of that life.
Finn assured that Una was happy and safe and he was tortured by not being able to be with her. But he watched from a distance, and constantly made it known that he wanted her. She wanted him too but couldn’t chance it. She made him vulnerable. But she would learn, being without him made both of them vulnerable.
We also meet Niall, Finn’s cousin. He plays a huge part in this book, which for obvious reasons as his book is next. Without spoilers, that’s it. This is just the beginning and there is never a dull moment. Very entertaining and look forward to Niall’s book.

WOW, Melanie Moreland—what a phenomenal way to kick off a new series! Finn, the first book in The Irishmen series, delivers everything I crave in a mafia romance: intensity, longing, danger, and a love that refuses to die.
This Canadian-Irish Syndicate romance is a breathtaking second-chance story that had me hooked from the very beginning. Finn, our broody, dangerous Irish mafia boss, is all hard lines and deadly charm—except when it comes to Urn, the woman who’s owned his heart for years. For a few fleeting months, he had it all: the woman he loved, by his side. But Urn, born into the mafia world, made the heartbreaking choice to walk away from the relationship, unwilling to live a life steeped in danger and violence.
Yet, even as she left, Finn couldn’t truly let her go.
With a heavy heart, Urn stepped away from the man she loved, but Finn kept her close—giving her a job at his casino, ensuring she stayed in his orbit and, more importantly, under his protection. Their connection simmers, never fully extinguished, and when danger creeps too close, Finn is forced to step back into her life in a way neither of them can ignore.
The passion between them reignites—hotter, deeper, more explosive than ever. But just as they find their way back to each other, betrayal and danger strike, and I was left breathless, clutching the edge of my seat. The twists, the emotion, the fire—it’s all here. From start to finish, Finn is unputdownable.
Melanie Moreland proves yet again that she’s a master storyteller. Whether she’s delivering small-town sweetness, laugh-out-loud romcoms, or dark, gritty mafia romance—she never misses. Finn is everything I hoped it would be and more. I can’t wait for what’s next in The Irishmen series!

This first book in The Irishman duet follows Finn, big mafia boss and hotel owner, and Una, the hotel singer he sets his eyes (and heart) on. Finn and Una had their chance at love the first time, but was quickly interrupted because of an incident that caused Una to pull away. Finn has given her space, but now he's determined to get her back and prove to her that they're meant to be together despite the dangerous world they're living in.
If you're like me and you enjoy ruthless alpha heroes who would literally burn the world down just for the heroine but are the softest for them and only them, then you're going to fall in love with Finn O'Reilly. I love how he knew what he wanted, but remained respectful of Una's boundaries. As for Una, I admit that at first, I didn't like that she was too trusting, bordering on naive, about the dangers that are right in front of her. But I did like how her character developed in the end, displaying so much strength and maturity.
The romance in this one started out as insta-love, but the MCs displayed so much chemistry throughout the story that I just couldn't help be embrace it right away — very characteristic of Melanie Moreland couples.
While I loved the overall romance, I do feel the need to call one part of it out:I wasn't a fan of how it portrayed one female side character who wore showy clothes and was inappropriately looked at by one of the male hotel employees (as told by another side character). It was swept under the rug and Una also thought that said side character shouldn't have worn such clothes if she didn't want to be ogled that way. I feel like this part was unnecessary and very uncomfortable to read, especially as I read on and realized that this book features women who survive the horrors brought upon them by men.
Overall, this was a romantic and suspenseful ride that I was glad to have been on, and I'm more than excited to get to Niall and Annabelle's story!
tw: kidnapping, drugs, human trafficking, gun violence, death
Thank you so much to Melanie Moreland for generously sending me an ARC and ALC of this book!

What can I say? Morally grey is my favourite colour!
Melanie Moreland kept me captivated with Finn and Una's story, I didn't want to put it down.
What's the Irish Canadian mafia equivilent of pining for a heroine? Because that's what Finn has been doing and oh boy is that swoonworthy! I loved that Una's happiness was his priority, whether that included him in her life or not.
Una is a quiet, strong heroine. She is the kind of heroine that you admire - she's caring, loyal, protective and resilient. I love that she had goals in life and worked hard for them.
In Finn's world he will always face adversaries but the ones he faced with Una... Melanie Moreland wrote this so well that it physically turned my stomach.
I loved the touches of Irish (Gaeilge) and the Irish phrases that appeared in the book. I loved Niall and the hints of his story to come.
