This book was not what I expected. I honestly though it would be another one of those sappy romance books, but I'm glad to say that I was wrong. This book really pulled on all the heartstrings, and I definitely recommend it. It's one of the best.

"Reading this book felt like diving underwater and emerging with wise little gems about friendship, grieving, and love."

2.5/5 didn't get into it until like, the last twenty pages.

When I first started reading Twenty Boy Summer, I thought it was maybe a little young for me. The first few chapters, where we learn about Matt and Anna's relationship--I had to push through those. I thought the couple was too simple, everything happened too quickly and easily, yadda yadda. But my mom and sister encouraged me to continue, and I'm glad I did.

The rest of the book turns out to be a really heartfelt story about grief and living after loss. You find yourself caring about the characters, pulling for everything to turn out better, happy, perfect because they deserve it to. I became really invested in the story, gasping, groaning or laughing out loud more than once.

Twenty Boy Summer has been banned or proposed to be banned more than once. I think this has to do with the sexual content. Sex is talked about quite a bit, and there are some descriptions that might not be suitable for young audiences, but that is always up to the readers' and the readers' parents discretion. Or at least I think it should be. :)

Despite the theme of grief and loss, this is a quick and fun read. The story focuses on Anna and Frankie, two teenage girls, and it never gets too super heavy since they're at the beach trying to make the best of their summer. My mom, teenage sister and I have all read Twenty Boy Summer, so the audience in my house spanned about forty years, and we all enjoyed it. I'll be reading more fom Sarah Ockler for sure.

This is a really good book which will definitely appeal to you if you're a fan of Sarah Dessen.
I enjoyed the blend of sweet and sad in this story, it was written really well and I enjoyed it a lot.

See ei meeldinud mulle. Ühel tšikil oli naabripoisiga väike romanss, aga nad kumbki ei maininud seda poisi õele. Poiss sai surma ja tšikk ikka mures, et kuidas ta õele öelda.

I first fell in love with this book because of the cover. After finally getting the chance to read the book, I fell even more in love with it. Reading it during school a lot of people came up to me to ask why I was crying. This book made me cry and laugh and wish that it all ended well. Being a huge Sarah Dessen fan this author Sarah Ockler wrote about the stuff I wanted to read. I look forward to her next book and many more.

This is the absolute best book I have read this year, and I have really enjoyed it more than any other YA book I've ever read. I just feel like this book is alive and breathing with a heart of its own. So beautiful, so bittersweet, so real. I think anyone who has lost a loved one can relate to this one, and I know I definitely did. Watching Frankie and Anna live through the loss of someone so, so close to both of them broke my heart and then, in the end, put it back together. The cover really says it all.

this was a book i read when I was 12 and just recently figured out the name of it again. I’m 17 now and my feelings about this book haven’t changed it’s the perfect amount of heartbreak and a little bit of love that a book should have. I love this book with my entire heart and will recommend it forever.
