This book was perfect parts heartbreaking and touching. It gave me butterflies in my stomach.
I fell in crazy love with this book. Review to come.
I always wondered about the front cover and it answered my question! It was honestly so beautiful to read. Such an awesome story and the little quirks in it were really well beautiful.
This books writing was actually pretty good and captivating it made it live mysterious and very teenagers and i wanted to read more but like i’ve been in a reading slump and i was not feeling like reading due to school coming in the shadows i would read this again next summer but i was not in the right place to read and also i don’t know the age rating because when i read there was no tuning inappropriate but like i have not read enough to evaluate the only thing i’m a little worried about is the part about her virginity i think it was not displayed very great and her friend got issues
This book was so sad and fun and light and deep to read and hopeful and hopeless and it was also about being in love and being loveless and moving on and not moving on -- all at the same time.
I don't know how to explain it, really. I don't know what to expect while reading this book. The book was intense from the outset -- yeah, Matt's death. I was really affected by his death. I can almost feel Anna and the remaining Perinos' anguish.
The book was mostly depressing.
This novel was great and it will really press you to tears.

I wish there were more to Aunt Jayne and Anna's shared secret - I mean, Aunt Jayne knew. And Sam, yes, Sam. It's too sad he's just some summer-fling-turned-special-friend in the end. I was half-expecting Anna and Sam to communicate by email after the vacation. Though we don't know for sure if they did or not. This novel was great and it will really press you to tears.
Simply lovely. Sarah Ockler has taken seemingly opposing elements — carefree summers and painful losses, light-hearted romances and heavy griefs, sea glass and paper, birthdays and funerals, life and death — and woven them into a surprisingly poignant and beautiful novel.
Let's start off by saying that I was truly surprised by Twenty Boy Summer. I thought I knew what to expect from this book, thought I had an idea of what could happen - well, I was wrong, very wrong.
I hadn't even finished the first page and already I was hooked, completely immersed in the story. Sarah Ockler created such a captivating story filled with love, loss, heartbreak and mixed up feelings with no true explanation; interesting characters with so many quirks and fears that you could immediately connect with them.
**MEGA SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT.. so just stop reading this if you haven't read the book yet!**
I think Anna was my favorite, simply because I connected so deeply with her. She was so strong and gave so much to those around her while still keeping herself intact, like, she gave into what Frankie wanted easily, partly because of the death of her brother, Matt, a year ago, which no one had truly seemed to recover from.
Frankie was a great character too. I really believed that she'd changed completely from the shy girl to this full-out "experienced" girl. Really, it was just a way of hiding her grief.. becoming her own person because of it.
This book was a real tear-jerker for me. I found myself fighting back tears soo often. It was such an amazing book though, I was so happy when Anna met Sam, I was really hoping that they'd find a way to stay together.. they seemed so perfect together. Like, Sam was super sweet and caring and I think that Anna really needed someone like that.
I was amazed by Frankie and Anna's friendship. Even through the most horrible fight ever they still managed to keep their friendship.
All in all it's an amazing read, I hope Ockler publishes another book soon! I'd love to read it, she's an amazing author.

Technically 4.75 stars, but I don't believe in rounding up. :)
3.5 stars*
This book definitely doesn’t deserve this rating ahhahah. There was some problematic language I found, but I think this book was exactly what I needed and wanted to read right now.
