It was...good. The pacing was a little weird, like they spent too much time in some places and not enough in others. All in all the book was good, and I enjoyed it.

Loved it!

I'm so glad I read The First Confessor before this one, since they tie together. I got so excited when I realized how they linked. So good! Can't wait to see what happens next!

Finally got a decent audiobook that worked and finished the book. It was good and the narrator Sam Tsoutsouvas was pretty good except for his one character voice The Emporer was really difficult to understand what was said and thankfully he didn't have much to say.

A good read, especially if you're a fan of the series. It sets up the next major conflict in the saga. Glad I read The First Confessor before reading this book because some of the things mentioned in the book is mentioned in the First Confessor. It's not necessary to read the First Confessor before this one but at least it'll give you some background information on some of the things.

Always enjoyed Terry Goodkind's work since the first day I read Wizard's First Rule and every one of his work has never failed to disappoint me. Look forward to his next book in the series!

As with many of the SOT books, from Temple of the Winds through Naked Empire, it feels tired and longer than it needs to be to tell the plot. Because of that the climax feels like a predictable let-down. The first 3/4 of the book the dialogue is question, repeat question, answer, question, repeat question, answer... between Richard and Samantha. So much more is explained than need be. And then...Zombies????...like we needed more zombies in today's market. A guilty pleasure if you're familiar with the books but definitely not Mr. Goodkind's best work.

The only reason I read this book is because I read all the previous books. The series started great, it's just that I've read so many much better written books since.
There is so much repetition, the story could have been written in half as many pages.

I just prefer books that let me think for myself.

This is a great book after the last couple of books that the author, Terry Goodkind has written. It is certainly a change of pace in his writing. The book is not really that great until about 65% into the book. The book is about when Richard and Kahlan are both injured and needs healing. They are taking to a place where they have never been in the process they discover dark secrets that at the end ultimately will change Richard and Kahlan's live forever.

I think I still read these books to torture myself.

slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? Plot
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated
  • Diverse cast of characters? It's complicated
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Needs a good edit. Lots of word-count boosting sentences. “They’re  bleeding him. They’re bleeding him? For his blood?” Etc. etc.
