did not expect to enjoy this so much, but i really did. accessible without collapsing complex context. particularly intrigued by the arguments regarding mental health and affective disorders under late capitalism, as well as the focus on media analysis

I really love how this book uses pretty accessible language to outline the basic issues and problems with dealing with late capitalism. It doesn't go deep into any of the issues but it provides enough information and insight for the reader to be made aware of its complexity and importance. I feel like this book is a good thing to start with and then go your own way to research a given subject and delve into it more deeply. This can easily be a one-day read but it still gives you a lot of subjects to consider and keep in mind in the future. Capitalism sucks also

This is a great introduction to the problem of capitalism. Reading this was encouraging because it points the finger of society’s problems (education, mental health, climate, parenting, etc) at the culprit: the center-less void of capitalism. This helped me pin down my restless rage and gives me hope towards the alternatives. The first step is that we must recognize that what makes capitalism so awe-consuming, like the air we breathe, is that it is a system that presents itself as the only way (the real), when it is in fact a veil of what is truly real.
basically says welcome to capitalism 101 : a crash course in the failure of post-modernism; good entry level critique, so to speak..
