Wow. Just wow. I bought this book because I LOVE Molly McAdams and everything she has written. But I wasn't completely sold on the idea of this book. The subject matter is very intense and I didn't want to sympathize with Briar's captor. I was so sure that I wouldn't like him and I wouldn't buy into this "Stockholm syndrome". But holy sh*t! This story is not that. It is about redemption. When you're about 80% through you have the "omg. This isn't happening. This isn't real life. Could it be". I had to physically put the book down and walk away. It was INTENSE. And I loved this story so much more than I ever thought I would. 5+ stars I highly recommend

“Because he is the darkness
He is the devil….
…and I love him”

"Blackbird fly, blackbird fly. Into the light of the dark black night."

How can you possibly be jealous of a girl who has been kidnapped and taken from her home, and all of the people she loves? It's fantasy, it's unrealistic, but that's exactly how I found myself feeling. Every time I would think that it would be followed by "seriously, stop.. you're crazy". It was a weird feeling, and one I wasn't completely comfortable with; but that's one of the joys of reading, gaining the ability to step outside your comfort zone and experience things in a new way.

Soooo...how do I even review this book? I'm honestly speechless and a bit...unsettled?...blown away? This is a completely dark romance that has elements that will cause you to hem and haw and oddly feel things for people (well, one in particular) that you really shouldn't feel, things that you can't help but feel. It's reminiscent of the kind of situation or feelings that Tears of Tess or Captive in the Dark provoke, but it's completely its own devil.

With a heroine sold into sex trafficking and a hero as her new master, things aren't peaches and rainbows. Our little blackbird isn't one to acquiesce to any man, certainly not him. His need for control and her unwillingness to relinquish control created a wild electricity between them both that continued to grow and grow to a fever pitch. I know this is a Molly McAdams we're not used to seeing, but I love that she went for it. It was gripping and twisty and a bit crazy and, yeah, I can't say much else without giving anything away. Blackbird was a wild, racy ride on the dark side and it was handled with the best of intentions for these characters. It's one that will surprise you to the very end.

🎧 Audio Review 🎧

This is a new to me author but if all her work is this good I'll be happy to listen to many more of her audiobooks in the future. This book was a little dark but not as dark as you think while listening (sorry you probably have to read it to understand what I mean by that). Briar is a strong women who is accidentally brought into a world of the dark dangerous and she handles is as well as she can. Most female characters in captive books are really believable in the way they handle their situation but I thought the author did a great job at making Briar realistic. Lucas thought he knew what he was getting into with Briar but man he was wrong. His character was all over the place on my likable scale. My feelings about him changed about five times but in the end I understand why and that is great writing to me! The plot was thrilling, sexy and the twists made a good story great.

The narration is why I picked up this book to begin with. I am a huge fan of Erin Mallon and she was fantastic in this book. She is really amazing with stories that have high excitement and she has a perfect tummy tingling male voice too. Jason Clarke is also a favorite of mine, I love that when he narrates I completely forget who he is because all I hear is the character in the book not a narrator reading a story to me. This narration duo would make me try many many new authors because I know they can make even an ok book great. Thankfully this book was just as good as the narration!

Yes, yes, YES !

Honestly, I came into this book blind. I got a notification from goodreads saying that Molly McAdams was releasing another book and I loved Taking Chances so I applied for an ARC. I was shocked to receive an advanced copy and I just dove right in without reading this book's blurb.

I could not put this book down, I loved it right from the beginning! And the best part was that it kept getting better and better with every page. This book had me on the edge of my seat with all of it's twist and turns. I had previously read a book about human trafficking similar to this one but honestly, I loved this book so much more. I am definitely a fan of dark romance stories so this was right up my alley.

This book will leave you feeling every emotion possible. So be prepared to smile ridiculously at your book, wipe your tears and feel the need to scream throughout this book. Also, I read the sneak peek to the next redemption book called Firefly and I honestly can not wait!

Molly definitely deserves 5 stars for this book. The only downfall I found in this book was that it was way too short!

"I'm your blackbird. These wings are broken without you near."

Sometimes, I feel like I have a love – hate relationship with certain authors.

Molly McAdams is one of those authors. You see, she’s really at good at breaking my heart. Literally. The first time I experienced her writing style was when I read Taking Chances. And I was DEVASTATED.

So, I’ve learned – that when she releases a new book, I have to approach it carefully. As to make sure that neither the book or I shatter. Sometimes I sit on her books for like ever, because I honestly don’t know what to expect.

This was the case with Blackbird of the Redemption Series. The book literally sat on my kindle for AGES – and I mean a WHOLE year and some months… Don’t get me wrong, the girl can write. And I mean that in every possible way. She has a way of molding words and creating something so beautiful and precious, and then she rocks your world.

We get to meet Briar Rose Chapman – a girl who has it all. A job she loves, a fiancé whom she’s absolutely in love with, and parents that only want to use her. Unfortunately for her, certain events transpire – and those events literally turn her world upside down. Enter Lucas Holt, and I don’t even know what to say about him. Seriously. He was such a complicated man and individual. Briar always referred to him as the Devil, but deep down she knows that there is more to him than meets the eye.

This book had me on the edge of my seat. It was definitely packed with the right amount of mixed emotions that make you a blabbering fool (or at least – it did to me). The journey that these characters take is completely out of this world, but in a great way. I can’t wait to continue on to the next book in this series. I’m not sure how fast I’m going to jump onto, seeing as I’m not sure that my little heart can handle much more of Molly’s work right at this moment.

Seriously I can't say enough about Molly McAdams and this latest book is nothing short of brilliant. She writes the best characters and makes you love them not matter what happens. I wish she would write books faster so I won't have to wait for the next book. I love the Devil with all my heart!

Amazing

Molly has hit it out the park again! I went into reading the book blind (don't read the blurbs if it a favorite author), at first I was like wtf am I reading? As the story progressed Molly had me falling in love and getting my heart broken. Nothing better than when an author makes you really feel!! Highly recommend this book!
