DID NOT FINISH

Garbage
funny slow-paced

The text is silly and repetitive but it's a good vehicle for the hilarious pictures. It would be funnier if I didn't know so many people who read and take seriously very similar non-satirical parenting books. But as a gift my husband received it got a good laugh which was its intended purpose.

Bit gets old pretty quick

I was given this book as a gift a few years ago and finally got around to reading it. I agree with a few of the other reviews of this book.

It's a funny book, but it's also very repetitive (each section basically repeats itself as a new topic). I think this would've been better as individual pamphlets, but that'd only be ~20 page books. It's also funnier to just read the reviews on Goodreads that believe this is genuine, but I can't blame them with how crazy conservatism has gotten.

It's satire.
It's pretty funny how many reviews don't seem to understand that this book is satire.
Regardless, it's not very well written satire. I did laugh a few times, but more often, I found myself counting the pages to see how many are left. I think reading one brochure would have been perfect, but this collection ends up being too much of a good thing.
Mainly, it's the same joke, over and over and over. If you like cat jokes and cat puns, this book is for you.

What sounded like an entertaining parody actually turned out to be very unsubtle, beating you over the head with terrible puns over and over again. I took a break of months before coming back to it to see if that helped, but no. It's bigoted, offensive and just plain unfunny. The gun safety topic was probably the only one I found remotely entertaining, and even that had cracks about "the liberal, Jew-run media" and other such things.

Also, if you are religious at all, you'll probably find yourself bristling at some point in every topic.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

It's basically a rehashing of Trump-isms but with his gun nut nazi followers replaced with cats. It's allegedly humorous but it's nowhere near ridiculous enough to be funny as everything is pretty much straight quotes from republican campaigns.

Is it still satire if you just take propaganda and replace the word 'child' with 'cat'?
Not so sure. I expected something better. It gets old and repetitive the more you read. Too bad.
That's 7 pounds I'm not getting back.

This would have been better as a picture book. The jokes ware thin quite quickly, though the pictures are quite cute, and make the point better than all the writing.

Sorry, just not worth actually reading. Satire like this wears thin far too quickly. I get it already. Thank you for saving my cat.

Now go start a meme with all the cute cat photos.

Three stars for the concept, and the photos. But no more.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book avialble for an honest review
