I did enjoy this! Or at least, I enjoyed more parts than I didn’t. At a certain point, I felt that it was much longer than it needed to be. The pacing is incredibly slow and the timing in this book is sort of touch-and-go. I understand that they’re vampires and timing means nothing to them. I get that. However, the first third or so of the book takes place within a year and then there are time skips over several months, fifteen years, and five years. It’s difficult to determine how long an event spans. The prose in this was half flooring and half things like, “her whole body felt like a breast” or unnecessarily using words like ‘behoove’. The characters are diverse, queer, and lovable. Frankly, this book is all vibes. The plot is not incredibly grabbing, due to the pacing, and the ending was not as pleasing as the journey we took to get there. Sometimes I thought the protagonist could just shut up and everyone loved her a little too much. But I am going to buy this and pretend like I’m gonna read it again, one day.

This was extremely well written.  The prose was so beautiful and the love between Rosion and Poppy truly warmed my heart. There were several times I wrote quotes from this book into my journal. Be prepared for slow pacing and just vibes though. Not much of anything happens in this.

This book was impossible to get through. The premise and intro were paced unbelievably poorly and astounded me this got past an editor or even could be written this way. The Phrase "her body felt like a breast" to describe her as fat is the worst thing I've ever read and I can't stop thinking about it. I can't stand how the writer thinks they're writing something so astounding and groundbreaking and the plot comes across as something I wouldn't write in middle school. I tried to get through this, I truly did, nothing worked here and things were so close to being good but keep missing. I don't know how to dissect this, it's just not how you write a book. The exposition and characters were painful and the pacing was so bad it made me laugh. The prose tried to be profound but came across as cringy, see the breast line, and I'm just not strong enough to get through this. But I'm counting for my reading because why the fuck not.
