I have read Rebecca several times, and I think I listened to it once as well. Classic Gothic horror.
Once again it was time to revisit Mandalay. I think this may be the first time I have listened to this book as an adult, certainly post having children.
I enjoyed it as always but found the main character much more frustrating than I remember in the past, as she is so passive. I guess that was to be expected at the time and position we originally find her in.
Good autumn read especially on foggy days.

Well written psychological mystery/suspense novel as told by a young lady who is the narrator of this story. I found it cleverly written and it's told with the protagonist's active imagination a good deal of the time, you almost feel that she is hovering between reality and fantasy as she tries to compete with the spirit of her husband's former deceased wife. As the story unfolds and she learns secrets of the past, choices must be made and trials must be faced. The author went to great lengths in development of the characters and they are clearly defined. All told I thought it a superior tale and can understand it's popularity even today.
