Super cute story with a unique take on monsters. Marilyn keeps waiting for her monster to find her, but eventually takes action to find her monster herself. Only thing I didn't like was how all the monsters were gendered male, calling them he. Aren't there any she or they monsters?
Marilyn has been waiting on her monster forever! She tries not looking for her monster, pretending she doesn't want a monster, and practicing being an interesting person. When none of these schemes work, Marilyn takes her search for her monster on the road. This book deals with waiting expectantly and putting your feet to your faith. Faith without works is dead!
A fun story about friendship and bravery and defying the expected to get what you need. Would be a good addition to an elementary school story time on friendship or monsters or courage. :)
Phelan's illustrations are complex and wonderfully done, a great story with a good message.
Any book that manages to make me smile with so few words and pictures deserves a 5-star rating. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
Such a cute story! It's a great illustration of how things don't always come to use in the same timeline as our peers. Perfect for growth mindset / 7 habits.
This book was adorable. Marilyn is the last kid to be found by her monster. She feels lonely and left out. She decides to go against the grain and go look for her monster, and it’s a good thing she did. The watercolor illustrations are simply lovely and make this book better than the story alone.
