I would highly recommend reading this duology in order because otherwise you will be very confused. I initially decided to read these books because I adored the QaM series and I really wanted to know more about Killian but After finishing both books I enjoyed Liam's story a little more, plus that book was absolutely hilarious and I loved every second of it. Here the humor was a but on the back burner but I still found the story funny and the characters had their moments. Overall, I just liked Liam and Tru's relationship and romance more also it felt like this book was a bit all over the place.
I loved the idea of Juliet being a little Robin Hood with her friends Fin and Max and I honestly wish we got more of this trio because they were hilarious. Plus I just wanted them to be more badass because we got some hints and scenes but Killian was always one step ahead. Juliet was good but she really got on my nerves with her constant overthinking and complicating every situation. That girl refused to listen and she was unwilling to freaking budge an inch with her stubbornness. It took for her to be tortured to finally admit her feelings.
As for Killian, that man did not disappoint, he was actually a lot funnier and kinda goofier than I thought he would be. I think that he was a great continuation of JTG's male main character formula working and I liked him a lot, though he was annoying a at times because of his overbearingness and constant presence freaking everywhere.
The romance was good, I wasn't dying over it but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I wish there were more cute moments between them because every time they had them it turned to shit with arguing. I loved seeing Liam and Tru and I was glad we got so much of them towards the end, it was nice catching up.
When it comes to drama or conflict, there really was none. I mean we this book was very much a lot of telling instead of showing and that happened with Killian and Juliet's dad too and with Killian's letter to her, I really wanted to read it because I think for the people who have not read book one it would provide necessary information because Liam was the only one who in detail described it to Tru in their book, here Killian just kind of listed it off and not even to Jules but to Liam over the phone. I was a bit disappointed by that. The end was cute and I am happy I read the books, it's also bittersweet I'm done with all these mafia books but I have more on my tbr to dive into. If JTG writes more mafia I will be there to read it for sure.

I love that the author gave Killian his own book! It does irritate me when they use terms that aren’t said in Ireland but on the whole this book is great

Another great JT book. This was a perfect sequel to the first in the series. Loved the romantic parallels with Romeo and Juliet. I loved how Killian would recite Shakespeare throughout the book.
Juliet was a feisty little thief who really did not want to fall for Killian. There was much build up in the falling, but when she did fall, she fell a little too quickly. That was my only hang up. She resisted him (even when she wasn’t really resisting), but then immediately after the kidnapping (or during), she was in love and vocal about it. Other that that I loved it, and wished they had a triplet brother so I could read another!

I'm sorry, but what point is the author trying to make in this scene where the heroine's two best friends are arguing?
“Oh, you think you’re such a stunner, huh? You look like something I drew with my left hand.” I say, “Girls.” They ignore me. Fin says, “Don’t make me have to smack the extra chromosome out of you.”
As far as I know, an extra chromosome is related to Down Syndrome. So is Finn implying the other friend is "flawed", either mentally or physically? This just reads bad. The scene adds absolutely nothing to the story and is offensive.

This one was slower going for me, as there was less story and more feelings than its predecessor. Still very enjoyable, but settle in for a cat-and-mouse dynamic rather than an action-based plot. I do enjoy JTG's writing (I think there has only been one of her titles I really didn't like), and now I feel like I want to do a re-read of the Queens & Monsters series.

This book was a rollercoaster of emotions and I loved every single minute of it. I absolutely loved the banter and sarcasm that Killian and Juliet flawlessly exchanged.
I couldn’t wait to read more about Killian after we were introduced to him in Beautifully Cruel, and he did not disappoint. He was the perfect match for Juliet. He had over-the-top tendencies yet somehow still managed to exert some inhuman self-control. I loved his exchanges with Liam. And after everything they’ve been through, seeing them both fall head over heels for their women was so beautiful.
I really liked Juliet; she was a strong FMC with an arsenal of skills under her belt. She did have a bad habit of overthinking and jumping to conclusions, but given how she was raised, I couldn’t blame her for the assumptions she made. And I loved that she was part of a vigilante gang of mafia boss daughters out to make up for their father’s atrocities was such a cool concept.
Declan has intrigued me with his appearances in this series and I’m even more excited to read his book!!
