How can you not fall in love with the Blacks! This left me wanting more of their stories. A page turner!

I love an obsessed man <3333

JT doesn't write bad books. Each one has hilarious banter, hot spice, and plenty of action that keeps you hooked. The two main characters had me swooning and I just adored their relationship. Mafia romances are my favorite, and this one definitely exemplifies everything I love about the trope.

Very fun read and I will continue reading anything by this author.

“It’s not inexplicable. I like you the way Newton liked gravity… Once he found it, everything else in the universe made sense.”

Ohhh, same old good.

When I read “Anti-hero (noun): Killian Black” I was done. When I read a few trustful reviews, I was in.

What I didn’t know was hero is Irish. And the shock was that he is Scottish too.
Can u sense the flame I fell into?

Like it’s not enough, mo chreach, he is 40. Moreover, she is 25.
Can u feel the flame I fell into?

It’s not just about the age gap, okay that too but you can’t write a cruel gangster under mid 20’s and expect me to ok with that. Not bc I’m 26, my 16 self was thinking the same way.
Fuck college bad boys.
And I have no words for high school whippersnapper (I asked people on reddit to find this slang, don’t ever question me about my reviews).
U can’t blame me for YA PNR books I’ve read either. I’m still a #TeamEdward…

As my death sentence, he loves neck her neck. Like smelling, grapping, stroking…
I pull her hair. Her head falls back. I kiss her throat…
I died.
I roll her to her back and come inside her, biting her neck, seeing star.
Again and again.

My man has temper. Especially if he is not near with Jules. But his temper taste like cinnamon rolls. Like pacing in front of her house. Like when he realized she is afraid of he would rape her after finding her to interrogate for stealing ninety thousand dollars’ worth of diapers from him. He just threw her out onto a safe street, LOL after a very long squabbling, more like foreplay LOL
Yes. Diapers. She stole from him. This is how they met.

This is not a dark mafia/mob romance. U’ll understand that from the first moment. Which means you gonna die from over-romance.
As I said, I died. Again and again.
Don’t get me wrong, this is a mob romance, just not dark. He is the mob. But bc I don’t wanna give you spoilers, you will understand after u read why I didn’t bitch about story is soft for a mob romance and his kind character.
Cuz’ if you know me, I can be a bitch.

“If you’re looking for your knife, it’s on the bathroom sink. Next to the pregnancy test wrapper.”
I know these words don’t make any sense to you when u read it. My man is romantic. Not like flowers and hearts and diamonds from a pussy man who talks a few Harlequin-ish L-words.
It’s taking care, being nice, protecting, daring, and as a matter of course, obsession, passion, possession.

the holy trinity...

Also, my man is an fragile bastard.
“Oh god. This is a disaster.”
I whisper, “Or it could be a miracle.”

Your woman insulting you about having a baby, which you force her into LOL.
Maybe we should call him controlling fragile bastard LMFO.

“You’ve already stabbed me in the heart, thief. Now it’s just a matter of seeing how long it will take for me to bleed to death.”

BTW, story has its own humor. Not just between h and H but with side characters too.
“I’m just saying that he might calm down a little if he heard her voice.”
“Or he might explode into a million superheated mafia king pieces.”

I read this first in the series. I wasn’t sure to read book #1 but after reading the following quote, I jumped in asap.
“Now fucking tell me how you got Tru to fucking fall in love with you.”
“All right, calm down. If you must know, I kidnapped her.”
It’s my turn to be stunned into silence.
Sounding defensive, he says, “It’s not ideal, I know.”
“You’re serious.”
“I am.”
“And it worked?”
“She’s sleeping beside me. Wearing my ring. Carrying my child. I’d say it worked.”

See, has its own humor LMFAO.

No need to mention book is hot.
Sweet flame will lick you from head to toe.
Mostly on your neck and all around your throat.

Ahem…

One thing bothered me a lot.
There is no Irish accent in text. Except ‘lass’ and ‘aye’, and one or two sweet words.

WHY THE FUCK.
WHY THE “FECK”.
Why, why, why…
(reason for 4 stars)

I would call this Gentle Inferno

Such a great second book to the Beautifully Cruel duology. J.T. Geissinger has such a way with writing amazing characters and dialogue, the banter is top notch. And I enjoyed seeing some familiar names from the Queens & Monster series. Killian was such a great alpha male and though an identical twin was different from his brother Liam and enjoyed reading more of his backstory and seeing him fall for Juliet.

Juliet and her friends were modern day robin hoods and I enjoyed their friendship and banter, it would have also been but to have had Killian interact more with them!

I would recommend reading this series before the Queens & Monsters, though it isn't really necessary, you will miss some links and background!

Overall a solid mafia romance!
