Okay, now that it's over, here's my take on this YA Dystopian series as a whole. I thought it was worth reading. It was interesting. Did not love what the author did with the "Christian" character or the (YOUNG) teenage sex. My preference would have been for my 8th grade son to have waited and read this in high school, but not horrified he read it now.

Loved it. Loved this book, loved this series, loved everything in it.

I'm still super mad about a number of deaths - I felt Orc's death coming for at least half of this book, then I almost had a moment of relief and then he was gone and I found myself crying. Orc committed the first murder in the FAYZ, Orc was an asshole for a long time, but in the end he found a little light and still... he died. This is not fair. As it is not fair that Dahra had to die - Dahra, seriously?!?!? That kid was a literal angel. She always took care of everyone and then she just dies like that? And when it was Brianna's turn... Brianna was never my favourite character, she just annoyed me until she said "I'm just a kid" but when she died I had to stop for a few minutes and cry and then check if she was actually dead or my mind was just playing tricks on me by making me understand what I was reading wrong.
And Caine. Look, honestly, I always loved Caine because he was a well-written villain so when I read that he was going to sacrifice himself - rant incoming - WHY?!?!?!? CAN'T WE JUST GIVE THE KID A REDEMPTION ARC WITHOUT KILLING HIM OFF FOR THE GREATER GOOD??? LET DIANA SACRIFICE HERSELF LET PETE TAKE OVER DIANA'S BODY SO SHE CAN REDEEM HERSELF THE LITTLE BITCH LET HER KILL GAIA AND IN THE PROCESS KILL HERSELF AND LET CAINE WALK AWAY A NEW MAN!!!!
But with all of these deaths... why isn't Alberto dead? Like you have this super annoying kid right here.

Now - I'm still thinking Quinn and Lana ended up together somehow and Sam stopped being an emo and Edilio kept signing autographs while holding hands with Roger and Dekka found some peace, and nobody can take this away from me.

The FAYZ was an awful place but what a ride.

This was a worthy ending to the series. Not all sugar glossy or unrealistic - well done Michael Grant! Gory, shocking violence as usual - boys love it!

Heel erg bedankt Micheal Grant! De fantasie in dit boek prachtig!
