It started out promising and dramatic but essentially turned into a predictable romance . I figured out the mystery right away so that didn't allow for any suspenseful reveal either . Overall though, it was fairly engaging and compelling and a light breezy read that didn't require much of me.

I almost DNF'd this book. The first half is like reading an HGTV and a cooking show. It took over 50% to get to the suspense piece, and I knew who the killer was at the beginning. I was hoping there would be some sort of twist but nope.
I wanted to see her talk with her dad or at least see the brother's conversation with the dad. Or even get to read the letters between the dad and the new bad guy.
She's a talented writer but I was bored with this story.

The beginning of the book is greeeeeaaaaaaat. And I like Xander because he has so many books.
Wow! The first chapter came as a real surprise and I was immediately hooked. I don’t think I’ve cried for so many differing reasons as this story gave me.
