I saw this recommended on Reddit and decided to pick it up on a whim. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it; I tend to bounce off a lot of Nora Roberts. (Which makes sense because there is so much Nora Roberts out there!) Her typical attention to detail in researching and describing the FMC's career. I also will note that I appreciated how she dealt with the serial killer side plot - while there is a serial killer he's not the superhuman, omnicompetent villain that many serial killer thrillers present, he's in fact rather pathetic and preys on the weak and vulnerable.

I know that when I pick up a book by Nora Roberts I will enjoy the read and be entertained. This story is one of what it might be like to be the child of a serial killer and how being that child might form who you become. Both Naomi and her brother dealt with being the father's child in different ways and I enjoyed reading about both of them although this is really Naomi's story. Naomi is looking for a place to put roots down and hopes she has found it. She finds a house, a man and friends but then her past begins to encroach when murders begin to occur in this place she thought would be safe. This was a fun and sometimes intense read but I thoroughly enjoyed it and just passed my copy to a friend knowing she will enjoy it, too.
