Thank you so much for an advanced copy of First Love, Take Two by Sajni Patel.

This book was a light, fun read that made me smile a lot. I love a story about a second chance love, and this book delivered on that promise. I found the characters engaging and fun, and I was really invested in their outcome. I wanted them to be together, and I think that's a huge box for a romance to check!

I also thought the storyline was well-done and flowed nicely, and I thought the pacing was spot on. Sometimes I lose interest when a romance drags, but this one kept me hooked until the very end. Ii really like it!

My biggest complaint is that this book doesn't really stand out from other romances from similar tropes, and I didn't think the characters really stood out either. The story isn't really that unique, and I would like to have seen this book differentiate itself from other popular romances releasing this fall.

Otherwise, if you're looking for a good romance, this is a good choice for you!

Definitely my favorite of the two books in this series. I understood how some people may have had an issue with not knowing much of Preeti and Daniel's relationship in the past and how that may have made some readers feel less connected to the characters, however I still felt that regardless of knowing every detail from their past that these two were meant to be together. They had chemistry but also that element of familiarity and comfort that they could only get with one another. I will say if you are not a fan of the miscommunication trope in anyway this may not be the book for you. There was miscommunication but mainly Preeti and almost everyone else in her life which annoyed me. However, overall there were many important themes in this book and while I wouldn't jump up and down saying that EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK, I will say that I did enjoy reading it and that it was a good story.

Also very happy with people (and her inner monologue) pointing out why certain things in her life weren't okay,

no matter how much she tried to justify it. Gosh it made me so mad/sad-but thankfully that was gone soon enough.

It was okay. Miscommunication tropes are not my favorite. The “issue” could have been solved with a 5 minute conversation. But no, it had to take a very long audio book to clear the whole thing up.

3.5 I enjoyed the first-person voice more than I was expecting, and while the heroine frustrated me sometimes, part of that is because I related so much to her anxiety and difficulty communicating -- her flaws were written very well imo. It does drag a bit towards the end, but I felt very good about the happy ending.

Though I will say, I found the wealth angle kind of off-putting. I wasn't expecting it, and because this story is more grounded in the real world than say, a Harlequin Presents with a billionaire tycoon hero, the conspicuous consumption bits grated on me more. When I open an HP, I set aside my feelings about real-life rich people and I can take the luxury porn as symbolic without thinking too much about where all that wealth came from. But here I was like, where did those diamonds come from?
