Maybe I missed something because I was listening to it while at work, but I thought the book was just ok and I can't figure out why it's a "classic."

Finally. Finished. I could do without Dickens' wordiness because when I think about it, the plot and symbolism were quite good. I liked Defarge's knitting--and her undoing. And who cannot love Sydney Carton's sacrifice? Well... if only he had offered himself up for characters who were more likable. Dr. Manette and Carton were my favorite characters--the rest were a bit bland for me.
