Absolutely incredible. If you have not started this series yet, do it now so that you can bask in the wonder of this third novel of a four-part series. I eagerly await the fourth and final installment of this stunning story.

4.5⭐️

The first half of this book dragged a bit for me, but I flew through the second half. So many questions finally answered, so much character development and great plot twists! Made me excited for the final book!

7 months .... I've had this book since it came out and it's taken me 7 MONTHS to start reading it. It wasn't because I didn't WANT to read it, nope, it was because I knew exactly what this book was going to do to me. So much pain and sadness and despair, my poor babies. With all the shit they've been put through, they better get their HEA. I can't wait for the next one, I can't wait for some happiness 😫

PS. It will be so satisfying when Keris gets what's coming for her ass.

i wish i can tell you what happens in the beginning of this book but it literally felt like a fever dream but by the end the way everything comes together and also sets up for the last book it is so INTENSE. okay but three things that i definitely took away:

1. elias slowly losing his humanity and becoming more and more like “a mask” so he can truly become the soul catcher and when laia says his eyes look like his mother the chills i got, this was definitely a full circle kind of moment

2. laia was definitely something in this she was trying to find nightbringer and stop him, but seeing her deal with her ghosts of her past and powers was so !!! like she has barely gotten time to fall apart and is being thrown to situations where she can’t grieve sometimes. i loved the vulnerability we can see again in her and her strength like i am so excited to see how she leads and where it takes her

3. helene!!! my everything, after what she went through in book two and the pov changing from helene (a torch against the night) to blood shrike had me going insane. we really see how she has such a bigger role to play to take down the empire. in her battles, i just go insane because she really be so ruthless and would do anything for the empire and to protect people.

.. and also elaia and heleneharper the crumbs? i am making a whole ass meal at least both of the ships had a kiss scene

Dude, why was I crying when
MARCUS died?!?!?!
I literally GASPED and yelled "COOK?!?!"
at the big reveal. I mean.... Should I have guessed it? Yes. But I don't guess. I let the plot take me where it's going and I was TAKEN. Everything is a disaster. Millions of people must be dead at this point. And I still don't understand the commandant really at all. She just seems like an evil bitch still three books deep. I hope we learn that she is, in fact, a nuanced character with more in her heart besides rage and revenge.
