Well this broke my heart.
I think I have it a little lower rating than the other ones because it had been so long since I had read them and I was a little lost. And I feel like some of the action and was glossed over if that makes sense. Things happened so quickly and I would’ve like a bit more detail. All in all, a solid read and I’m super excited to read the next one. Soooo much went down and I need to know how it all works out.

I have enjoyed the rest of the series. But this was my favorite so far.

How does this series get better and better?! Everyone’s POV was so tense, stakes were so high, the plot twists had me GAGGED, gut wrenching scenes, and we get to see other parts of the empire. I love Helene, book 3 has cemented her as my favourite character.
I love sabaa tahir and y hi s series but this one just got a little slow for me.
This is one of my favorite YA fantasy series and I loved the third book ALMOST as much as I loved the first two. My biggest complaint is that I thought this was the last and final book of the series and was so disappointed to not get any sort of conclusion. While the book felt a little slower than the previous two, I did really enjoy the narration from Helene and am interested to see how the three main character stories will continue to develop in book four. Agh. Now the waiting game...
I enjoyed it but it was a bit too political for me.
