Listen, the first 2 books were soooo good, but then I took a pause before the next one and lost all momentum… I feel like there isn’t enough to make me want to continue
4/5. This book spanned over years for me. I read about a third four years ago and finally have returned to finish the series. It took a while for me to get back into the book and remember the key moments and characters but once I did it was fun to be in the midst of the chaos and war that is happening. I enjoyed this and am excited to see how the series ends :)

This book (and the previous one) propelled this series to a 5-star series! 5 stars for this book!
I really like the story - it’s a fun YA adventure fantasy and I can’t resist a story that is about saving people. They’re my favorite fantasy (see Throne of Glass and ACOTAR). There is also a little romance which I really appreciated! One of my favorite things the author does is alternating narrators between Laia, Elias and the Blood Shrike, which I think really propels the story forward and reveals important points to the plot in such a clever way. I can’t predict where the story is going which is also exciting as a reader.
I can’t specifically call out a plot summary as I am barreling through this series now. I have enjoyed the dynamics between the Blood Shrike and Harper. Musa is also a fun new character!
I recommended this series to one of my closest friends with the best reading taste for her maternity leave. It’s still unbelievable to me that there is no wait at the library for this series

This series started so strong but the love interests aren’t progressing and I found I just didn’t care about the developing plot. It was all coming together so slowly. I won’t be going on with the series.
