Hm. Well, I'm gonna hide my review because of spoilers. This is a cute little chapterbook. I didn't expect it to be very complicated. Grown adult here and I laughed over Eddie's antics. A couple in the class want to get rid of the new teacher and do things from spitballs to garlic salt to breaking-and-entering. She's either a vampire or a witch, as far as they're concerned, with her brooch that glows green just before she does something about a rambunctious student. The only issue i really have with this is the ending. Eddie gets escorted somewhere by Miss Jeepers, but we never find out where and we never find out what she did to make him behave. All we really seem to figure out is that she must be a witch because "vampires don't wear polka dots." Hm. Idk. 2 stars. It was okay.

Read this with my class and they loved it. There are some outdated words but that’s to be expected. I still found this book pretty fun, and listening to the theories the kids in my class came up with was very interesting. It was fun to see there brains try to work out the mystery, and they still can’t decided if Mrs. Jeepers is a vampire or not.

OMG i just remembered this book after i saw an article about polk street kids and a librarian getting rid of them from his library and then i saw this book being decided on leaving or not and i remembered it and was so happy !!! this book was so good and the whole vampires thing omgg

My daughter is not happy with the ambiguous ending.

Just what is it about kids’ books about weird teachers, anyway? Though it seems they come by the boatload, Vampires Don’t Wear Polka Dots is a cool take on the creature-teacher subgenre for kids.
When the new teacher, Mrs. Jeepers, lands in the third grade at Bailey School, the kids begin to wonder how they’ll survive the year. A great mix of chilling humour makes Vampires Don’t Wear Polka Dots (and the rest of the Bailey School Kids series, too!) a wonderful pick for young readers this season and for the upcoming Halloween Holiday!

I remember really liking this series as a kid. Jenny liked it, but she doesn’t want to pursue the series. It moved kinda slow….
