Wow! This was fantastic! One of the best I've read this year. It's so disturbing and pulled me in right away. I couldn't put it down. Everything I look for in a book is found in this one.

I absolutely loved this book! I didn’t really know what to expect going into it but I definitely surprised me. I can’t remember the last time I was so invested in a book!

It’s a story that fits so well together and everything is so planned out, yet realistic. This book was a pleasant surprise and I’ll definitely be keeping up with the series!

Great start to the trilogy

Great world building.  There was just enough detail to make the dystopian world believable

You know a book is good when you finish it in 2 days. I'm also mad I didn't read this back in high school because maybe I wouldn't have stopped reading YA books back then. But it's ok since now I'm catching up and wow what a way to.

This book was a perfect balance of thriller and scifi, and I loved every page. I enjoyed all the characters even the ones I hated, and I loved watching them all grow. My heart pounded each time I turned the page, and I continued to hope as the characters did.

The characters are crafted so well you can't help but root for them. They all have different flaws and motives that drive them forward in the plot which I appreciate since I find many contemporary books with very flat and boring characters.

The plot is incredible and well thought out as all the pieces fit together to get us to the ending. And the ending! It's been awhile since I've found an ending so satisfying.

Overall, great book that keeps you up at night.

I loved this book so much! I really enjoyed the characters and the story line. I want to definitely read the whole series!

Spoiler A plan to control the population? I would never agree to a plan like this. Sign a document saying that it is okay for your child to be unwound? Parts of your child will be given to others that need them. We follow three journeys specifically throughout this book. Risa is a girl that lives in a state home. She finds out at school that she is going to be sent to be unwound because she chose to focus on piano at school and there are too many pianists. Connor is a boy that lives with his parents and sibling. He finds out that he is being unwound by looking through the house and finding the signed order. Then there is Lev who knew from a young age that he was going to be unwound because of his religion. I enjoyed all three of the focused characters. Lastly, the idea of storking really got to me in this book as well. How people just leave their newborns on others doorsteps really disturbed me.

I think i would give this book 3 and a half stars, but ill round up just to be nice. It definitely gets better around two thirds of the way through. Once I got to, say, page 150, I couldn't put it down. The writing improves, the action picks up, and there are a few pleasantly surprising twists.

The ending is a satisfying tie-up of loose ends and a good lead-in to the next book in the series.

The description of the actual unwinding is where I was really impressed with the author. It was so well written I felt nauseous after reading it. it was not gory, but it was disturbing.

The addition of the real news articles and quotes from real people at the beginning of the sections was thought provoking and a little shocking.

While obviously written for a younger audience regarding the simplistic language, I still could not put this book down. I didn't bond with the characters too much but the quick pacing and many many plottwists (I thought I figured it out about 2/3 throughbut damn was I wrong) certainly make up for it. The deep philosophical debate resurfacing every now and then was also a pleasant surprise
