a beach read that i read in the mountains. a weird love story that is at times frustrating but somehow totally works.
I'm normally pretty resistant to books/movies about infidelity, so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get into this, but I loved it--perhaps because the cheating is only in flashback, and the real story is all about the consequences, guilt, and hopefulness that comes after. Really good characters (at least, I really liked the main characters... some of the peripheral characters were a little silly/two-dimensional) and an engaging plot.

oh my god, this book is so sad. i guess i liked it, in that i really wanted to find out what would happen to this couple, but i also wanted to yell at the main character a lot, and i don't know, it was just so sad.

This is a nice fairly light read about falling back in love (with whom I won't reveal) and being an artist. As I recall the ending left a bit of a delayed sour taste in my mouth, like the end of High Fidelity, which felt good for awhile but eventually I stopped liking it. Laddish, maybe.
Fast read! Very though provoking on what it means to forgive and what it takes for a marriage to work.
I really liked this - it is dark, a bit depressing, but very truthful and honest about marriage and building a life with someone. I couldn't help but feel for both Richard and Anne. The book really sucks you into the characters - even the whacky art buyers!

Read this in prepub. Characters have enough flaws and make just the right amoutn of inner growth that the story feels believable.
