Meh. If it weren't so long, I would have liked it better. Maybe. Richard's an ass, it takes him forever to really "get it" (if he ever does), and the whining is hard to tolerate. There were funny moments, but they were few. Mostly it made me sad and a little bit tense, and I'm not sure it had anything new to say about relationships.
Meh. This book was just so-so. The protagonist is such a prat that I had little sympathy for his "problems".

A mid-30s man has an affair and then throws a hissy fit when his mistress leaves him for another man and his wife, who found out about the affair, is angry with him. Self-absorbed and long rants about how sad he is, even though he refuses to actually take responsibility for his own thoughts and actions, preferring to place the blame on other people.
I found it incredibly difficult to like the main character, but that was sort of the point. He is awful to everyone in his life and throws himself a pity party for 300 pages. If you know this going into it and realize you're not going to like the narrator, it is actually an interesting book and a fairly quick read.

1. No idea why it's titled "I am having so much fun here without you" unless it's some kind of reference to us being spiteful and stubborn in our loneliness when all it would take to make a connection is to reach out and bridge the gap.
2. It's been over 6 months since I've been able to dive into any fiction, so this was a balm to my soul that is probably disproportionate to the quality of the book.
3. I did enjoy the emotional realism of what can happen to a relationship over time. It felt vivid and raw and yet the book wasn't heavy - it had the lightheartedness of a bumbling main character and a story that you know will have a happy ending.

I've been on both sides of cheating, and I really related to the characters in this story. The ending bugged me, though I understand why it ended the way it did. I just thought that so much more could have been done and I thought the story came to am abrupt halt.
This book is a textbook example of an unlike able protagonist. The narrator is a British-born artist who meets and marries a French-born attorney while they're both in school in the US. They move to Paris, have a kid, and he decides an affair would be a great idea. The story picks up from right after his wife discovers his infidelity and we get to experience him trying to win her back.
The audiobook version is so good that I was listening to it constantly.

I felt the writing was good and fairly well crafted, although, the pace was slow. I also had no care for any of the characters. Probably, the only part I enjoyed were The Continuists for their hilarity.
This book has gotten mixed reviews on here, but it was just the book I needed to read.
