Another fun read with the evil Lucas involved. Artemis comes to the rescue with her retinue and in turn must be rescued herself. Apollo blazes forth with his particular chariot while Mr. D shows an unexpected side and Chiron's deepest secret is revealed...eek. Percy becomes acquainted with yet more gods and learns the secret of how the sky stays up while Annabeth discovers flighty aspects about her father.

i would love a dam burrito.
i didn’t feel as ~engaged~ with this one, but i enjoyed the introduction of many more nuanced characters and the thickening of the prophetic plot. it is also important to note that this book was really funny at certain points and made me laugh out loud while listening. i’m interested to see how the conflict continues to grow as percy gets closer to being 16…

Welcome back to this episode of the PJO Reread!
I remembered maybe two things about this book: the Hoover Dam bit and holding up the sky. Otherwise, it was like reading this story for the first time again.
I love Thalia. I love the Hunters. It was SO nice seeing so many women in the cast lineup. (Bianca di Angelo deserved more screen time and I’ll die on that hill.)
SO much happened in this book Jesus Christ. I think I skipped over this book in the original read-through and I didn’t get to it until MANY years later. I’d like to visit it again, I think. Lots of nice character devel, LOTS of new monsters and weapons and characters!
Also, “Live forever in the stars” KILLED ME. I wept. That ENTIRE scene hurt so bad.
A wonderful experience again. Excited to take on the Battle of the Labyrinth!!
