One of my favorite Junji Ito books. This one has a bit more comedy mixed in which I love.
Moderate: Body horror, Bullying, Cursing, Death, Mental illness, Misogyny, Self harm, Grief, Schizophrenia/Psychosis , Injury/Injury detail
I wasn't a fan of Soichi in the Netflix show, and sure he was very unlikeable in here, but it helped that we got to see stuff through other peeps eyes. If it was just all Soichi I would have dropped very soon haha. This was also very creepy, strange, weird, wtf, and strangely... interesting.

It was funny and less morbid than his usual work
This was kinda boring…
I know I prefer Junji’s short story collections following a different cast of characters, instead of focusing on one character/family.
I’m currently struggling with my chronic illness and therefore finding it harder to focus on reading, so I’m not sure if this was the reason I couldn’t get into it, or if it just wasn’t meant for me anyway.
It got quite repetitive as it was following the same characters and focusing on Soichi’s mischief. In my opinion, when you include magic and curses, it makes for a bit of a tedious/boring collection of stories. The curses were quite similar, and it loses its scare factor when it’s a bratty little boy who is able to do whatever, whenever.

This is the first graphic novel I have read. It was a good break from all of the reading I’ve done lately
