i think i can fairly say that reading this means i've also read men are from mars, women are from venus.

eloise deserved so much better than a man that sexually assaulted his suicidal wife and then neglects his children after her death.

Book Eloise & TV Show Eloise are very different. I have trouble imagining TV Eloise running away from home for a possible husband. But I do like Book Eloise, she has guts, & she knows what she wants. And watching her grow up throughout the book is inspiring. And stubborn Eloise becomes her mother by the end, I LOVE IT!

This is my 5th Bridgerton book that I have read in the series and probably my favourite so far. It is about Eloise, who writes to Sir Phillip after his wife dies, and they slowly begin corresponding with Sir Phillip, eventually writing to her to invite her to his estate/ makes a proposal. Whilst there is romance, my favourite parts of the book involve Phillips unruly children's twins, Amanda and Oliver, and her relationships with her siblings, particularly the shooting contest when her brothers come to "rescue" her and her reputation. I also liked the snippets of letters at the beginning and interspersed throughout the chapters. I appreciate that in comparison at times, Sir Phillip seems one dimensional and flat, but the writing wins through. So, in summary its fluffy historical light fast read where love wins.

I liked this book, but I didn't love it. The previous Bridgerton books spoke more to me than this one did. Don't get me wrong: it wasn't bad at all, but it was just not completely what I expected. Eloise is one of my favourite Bridgerton siblings, so my expectations were a lot higher. I loved the beginning of the book, but I found it a bit boring after a while. The end made up for it in some way, but it wasn't enough for me.

Also: the s*x-scenes were so unrealistic, reading this as woman. Women don't 'explode', as described by Quinn, as easy or at all in the way the couple made love. I would have loved a more realistic representation.

Eloise has always been a favourite character of mine since I watched the first season of Bridgerton. I loved getting to read her story as it was meant to be told (versus the Shondaland interpretation).

Eloise is nearing thirty, and both her and her best friend Penelope are beyond the age of eligible bachelorettes on the marriage mart. She has been corresponding with a man, prompted by death of a distant family member.

In true Eloise fashion, she makes a spur of the moment decision and this begins the true story. I loved the details within the letters of Sir Phillip and Eloise and the interaction between Eloise and Sir Phillips very naughty children.

Felt very Sound of Music with a penpal twist and made for a fun, light read.
