I’ve reread this book 3 times already, it is one of my absolute favourites and I recommend it to everyone! The plot is so well written and the characters diverse and believable in their actions - I love this book so much!
2.5. When even I can see the twists a quarter of the way through the book, you know they're too heavy handed.
lmao i can't believe i've wanted to read this for fucking years and i didn't like it AT. ALL.
i haaaaated this writing style, which is so full of short, sharp sentences and small chapters. i hated how the flashbacks and dips into other povs were done. i thought this was bad! lmao. I THOUGHT IT WAS SO BAD? I'VE WANTED TO READ THIS FOR YEARS AND IT WAS THIS BAD???????????
i'm ruth the raging
anyway, i DID dnf this a couple weeks ago bc i hated the writing style and THEN i saw they made a show out of it and i decided to power through and finish this bc i'm an idiot. and yk what? i bet the show will be better. i bet it will. i know in my soul it will. if @god @universe @bbcworld could give me anything, it would be that at least i get some entertainment out of this godforsaken story somehow and therefore i'm gonna watch it anyway. i will say, if the writing and style hadn't been so fucking shit then maybe this wouldn't have sucked. the story isn't. terrible. although the twists and conclusion are fucking hilar, but maybe i'll like them in the show. i will see. please god let it be better. i'm on my knees praying.

I loooved this. I had figured out some of the truth by the end, but there were so many different pieces of the puzzle that it was impossible for me to figure it lol out, and the change of narrators kept the suspense going. I also really loved the main character’s inner monologue and felt like she was more than just a generic main lady character in a thriller. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I’ll definitely read more!
Suspenseful and entertaining. Solid plot twist. I wasn't particularly enamored with either of the main characters though.
Excellent novel. Heavily entwined with religious constructs, but still showcasing some truly evil people. Would recommend!
What a great book. C.J. Tudor is just an author I enjoy reading. She really keeps me guessing and trying to figure out where she is going. I enjoyed the twists and turns and just sat back for the ride.
As usual I liked the character development and found the pacing good. Flo and Jack as the main characters were great. One thing I did find confusing was which character (of which there are many) we are reading from sometimes, but I think that this was the point.
I did figure out some of the plot points/mysteries, but definitely not all of them! Such a good read. I will continue to pick up this author's books in the future!
