Read for 52 Book Club Challenge: Prompt #10 Title related to "fire"
This one would also have worked for #23 "An ending that surprises you" because I didn't see many of the twists that happened in the last 40 pages of this book and normally I'm pretty good at guessing what is happening and who the "bad" person is. I had a few things right but had no idea about the big twist. Lots of deaths in this book. It was a great escapism "vacation" read for me for our weekend away from home.

holy hell. even when I thought I knew what was going on, I had absolutely no idea what was going on. what a trip this was.
Not exactly what I was expecting, but it definitely scratched my need for another good spooky thriller.

In some aspects, I liked this book more than I expected and in others, I like it less, if that makes sense. I'm not a horror fan, and especially with reading horror, my imagination runs wild with the events I read and I literally lose sleep. THE BURNING GIRLS was just scary enough to keep me excited but not leave me creeped out by normal things.
I really liked the pacing and buildup of this book. I did call the major twist quite early on, but it was a really good twist, so I was fine with it.
The few issues I had:
- The story has a massive cast of characters and it muddles the plot in places. This makes more sense at the end, but it was a bit hard to follow at times because of this.
- Out of the large character cast, they could have tied more together instead of having separate conflicts.
- The very well done paranormal aspect of this book that existed at the beginning fell flat at the end. It could have been better incorporated.

So many twists and turns and things I didn’t see coming. Amazing book!
Some wonderful twists and turns in this novel made in an all-nighter for me: well worth it!
