At the end of Salt in the Wound, we first met Tristan when he was picking up Isolde for her wedding, but Salt Kiss goes back in time to when he was first hired as Mark’s bodyguard. Through Tristan’s job, we get to see more of Mark and his club. As their relationship develops, Tristan is shocked to find out that he has a fiancee and is then asked to go get her and journey home together on a boat, and the two grow closer especially in regards to how little they know about Mark; however, Tristan thinks that he cannot be with either after the wedding. Next spring can’t come soon enough for the next book, especially after that cliffhanger. The writing in this book is so detailed, and you can follow the way Tristan thinks. I am excited to see more into Isolde and Mark’s pasts.
I love Sierra Simone, I really do..but I have some thoughts on this book.
#1: can we start a petition to stop using the word “organ” in a sexual setting? It brings on an immediate ick.
#2: is Tristan’s butthole OK??!! That seemed like a whole lot of action for a virgin all at once.
#3: Mark made Tristan a steak dinner and then the next morning they immediately went at it?! Ew.
I really had a hard time finishing this book because Tristan is kind of unimpressive and I really don’t like him. I almost DNF’d multiple times, but since I bought the book I pushed through.
And then the end…such a cliffhanger that obviously I will be reading the next one

I didn't like the prequel but read this anyways and still didn't really like it. None of the characters were all that likeable and the plot just doesn't give the way that the new camelot series did. And i normally love a bodyguard trope
Sierra Simone never misses!! I did want to rate it 4 stars just because you left me hanging...
Not sure I can wait until June for the next one.
A quick read that captures you and leaves you wanting more.

PLEASE be aware that this review is meant for my own purposes only in order to help me recall this book and is in no way a reflection of what I think anyone else will like or want out of a book. It is simply a memory aid and a rough voice-to-text which is completely unedited/reviewed for errors. Read at your own discretion.
Tristan is 29 years old and has just gotten out of the army. He is the son of a general and went to West Point. While in Carpathia he was forced to kill his best friend. When his new step uncle, Mark, offers him a job as a bodyguard he decides to take it. Marc owns the famous kink club Lionesse. Tristan quickly falls under Mark's spell and falls in love with him. Tristan is a natural submissive while Mark is top-tier dominant. Tristan had no sexual experience before this. There is a lot of political intrigue that is hinted up. Membership to lioness is paid for in secrets. When Mark is a victim of a stabbing during an attack in his club he sends Tristan off to get Isolde, the woman Mark is engaged to. Tristan had no idea Mark was engaged so he tells Mark their relationship is over. Tristan flies to Ireland and then they spend three weeks on a yacht sailing home. While on the boat they sleep with each other and Tristan falls in love with her. The book ends with them arriving back home to Manhattan. Mark's administrative assistant tells Tristan that there were cameras on the boat and that is all we know at the end of the book. There are definitely hints that maybe Mark allowed himself to be stabbed because Tristan noticed that his fighting style was terrible and we know that that is not the case from the prequel.
This book left a lot of things unanswered. The book is very well written. I had to look up a number of new words. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the characters. The spice was really good too. The story has a lot of promise.

THE PLOT??!?!? fcking amazing. this is my first sierra simone book and i will definitely be reading more because the SPICE??? fucking fantastic!!! tristan and mark??? amazing, tristan and isolde??? WOW! literally, this man can really do both. it is so so refreshing to have a bisexual main character, who is A MAN???? yeah, the minute i started this book i knew it was gonna be good as hell, and it just got BETTER.
i support tristan's rights and his wrongs because he was just straight-up unhinged and i loved that for him, he was iconic as hell. mark too??? biggest red flag ever but honestly i would fold too, i couldn't even blame tristan for falling for him because shit i fell for him too LMAO. and isolde??? oh she's an icon, i absolutely cannot WAIT for book 2, WTF AM I GONNA DO UNTIL JUNE???!?!?!
