I was so excited to continue this series. However, the mistranslation in the ancient text was obviously meant to be "flame." I did not catch on that the different clans were by the different colored dragons. Rebecca Yarros is so detailed and slap your face with unimportant details but so cryptic on others. Seemed like a cop-out to have the mom die in the end. Sometimes I rooted for Violet and her gang to fail.

I fear that I will never recover from this book. First of all, the dragons still remain my favorites with their sassy remarks. And all the side characters have my heart forever. Violet continues to be an absolute badass, and Xaden makes me fall in love more and more no matter what happens. The things that are revealed in this book had me quaking, and THE ENDING OMG. I’m so happy that I waited to read these books until right before Onyx Storm came out because I would not be able to handle waiting for the next book. I can’t wait to see where the story takes us next! Fourth Wing has such a special place in my heart. Is it a literary masterpiece? Obviously not, but it has such a chokehold on me lol I cannot wait for my copy of Onyx Storm to be delivered tomorrow!!
