Carl Hiaasen's characters are ridiculous...they are so strange that is doesn't seem real. And, I can't believe he uses swear words in a children's book. What is this world coming to?!
I love this book! It has so many lessons in it. I'm glad that Roy was able to save those burrowing owls.
Good book but definitely way below my reading level.
Read too long ago to accurately rate, but know I did enjoy it.
The author's fiction always contains an environmental activism stance, and this title for young readers is no different.
🦉
The main difference between this and his work for adults is the crude humor and gruesome, if cartoonish, demise of the bad guys that is the signature of books geared for an older audience.

Hiaasen loves Florida, but hates what development is doing to it's natural beauty. His passion for his home is unmistakable, and one of my favorite parts of his books.
