Oof, Alaina. I for sure had moments where I thought “Alaina, girl, you okay?”
For me, the details of the torture Jeremy subjected his victims to was hard to get through. If our author wanted a scary, messed up, completely unlikable killer? She nailed it. Sometimes when reading a book with dual perspectives the killer will have redeeming qualities or I’ll find myself not wanting the killer to be caught. But this fool? Couldn’t be further from how I feel. The whole time I was thinking “they need to get him”.
I enjoyed Wren a lot. Although I do think for how smart she is she could have picked up on some clues sooner.
The cliffhanger didn’t make me angry.
All in all a good book.

2.5 rounded up. Popcorn book, but def not the worst I've read. I was at least invested enough to finish (although I wasn't expecting this to start a series-- I wouldn't have read it otherwise)
Picked this one up because a friend recommended it to me... totally had to lie to her and say it was good... it was so badly written, not at all interesting, there was bad grammar and misspellings. Everything about this book was so foreseeable, it really was such a waste of time.

This feels so harsh but I use the same criteria for every book rating. I really wanted to like this book. Maybe my expectations were set too high. At my first try, I could not get myself to focus at all. I read 3 other books in between, so I knew the issue wasn't my inability to focus - this just didn't grasp my attention. I did not enjoy the writing style.
